There's a review of the Klipsch Scala II's in the current issue of Stereophile -- the mag will put the article on its website in the following month.

Wondering:
Has anyone explored the possibility of using the heat from heat sinks to cool ?? (A gas refridgerator uses a small gas flame to cool ... why not the heat from the sink doing same?)
It might be nice to have a couple of cans cooling down in the environmentally friendly listening room. 😀

that's what Mr. Peltier is all about -- you could use Peltier junction devices for your projects but they are not particularly efficient -- they have a hot side and a cold side.FastEddy said:" ... and you can keep lots of beer in that fridge!!!!!!!!! ..."

It would be more interesting to hook up the eliptical, tread-mill and stair master in the Summit NJ YMCA to a beer cooler.

Efficiencies ? effiiciencies ?? ... we don' need no stinking efficiencies !!
Considering that the heat sink heat would be zero efficient at cooling without the Peltier Junction devices in place (the heat doing nothing but escaping into the air), adding the device would only be an improvement although, as you say, an inefficient one ... No?

On my bench theres only some residue from my induction heating project, never cared to clean it away as i havent started any new projects since.
Heres a pic of my workbench:
An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.
Lol the picture loaded from the top, I thought the car was your workbench first... Am I the only one with computer screens on my desk for keeping diagrams and schematics displayed on during construction?
My workspace
I just stumbled across this thread, and it was definately interesting to see the birth place of other peoples electronic creations.
Anyway here is my work space, after a recent clean up.
On the bench on the RHS is an AEM 6000 preamp, which has just had a full rebuild, which consisted of a new case. and a new power supply, plus some component upgrades.

GV

My workspace continued
Here is another view of my work area.
The only problem is the vacuum cleaner. When it starts, it like a jet engine, and definately not fun to be near.
I once asked my wife if she could stop vacuuming until after I had finished my work.
Lets just say that I will never ask again!!!

You need a new chair, that one has to may hours on it... 😉
Cheers

This is on my bench -- MSSOP is a challenge

Hey Chris,
Those glasses... try lowering the front of them so they rest on your nose. I found that makes a huge difference.

The marks on the chair are indeed in a very unfortunate location, and rasises the obvious question by all visitors.
It is actually a ferric chloride stain from an etching mishap some time ago!!!

I thought it might have had something to do with the sudden noise from the vacuum....
you should put a speed controller on it to reduce the speed until it barely works. You can tell her you'll fix the vacuum as soon as you've finished your project...
