My custom CNC aluminum waveguides are completed. Samples are on their way to me now along with CNC cabinets with rosewood veneer. I am excited to receive all of this and tweak the final XO in the actual cabinets.
On another note, a new phono MM/MC preamp project is in the works with LSA. It’s looking really nice. The performance is also exceedingly good.
These are renders of the final product below…

you have been busy 🙂 , looking good - this is going to offer one slick set up with all LSA components ..dB
the wave guide looks like part of the tweeter production run - very well done. Going to be a very clean finish at the end.
Super nice X.
The only thing I can share at this time is my rebuild of my Geddes NA12's which use 18 inch waveguides which I love:
Best,
Anand.

Those are sweet looking speakers - I bet they sound terrific. I never knew you had these. The reticulated foam HOM remover looks like big aquarium filter though. 🙂
I like your interchangeable bezel rings for matching decor of the day.
The Poseidon’s Voice blue graphic is super.
When I hear the term Poseidon’s Voice, it makes me think of the voice of the guy who announces movie trailers. You know, the guy who says in a deep deep voice, “In a world where building speakers is a matter of life and death…” 🙂

These are the measurements of the tweeter without (flush mounted on the same 4 notches) from the front vs bezel mounted with screws from the back onto the same notches. Then the waveguide flush mounted on the baffle. This is with crossover - about 3.3uF high pass filter with a 0.2mH coil to ground and lots of R padding.
No waveguide:
With waveguide:
You can see that the distortion peaks near 3k went away and upper and lower bandwidth increased. Same crossover filter. The overall response is flatter too. It transformed the tweeter into something very high performing. Up there with the best Scandinavian domes, but being a light planar membrane, has incredible speed and air.

Thanks dBel! Wait till you see the custom 5mm thick CNC’d binding post panel with pure copper Viborg BP-603 binding posts!
Here is a low res render from the inline 3D viewer:

Thanks, Peppenino!
On the bench tonight Sept 10, 2021 is an IcePower 1200AS2 getting tested with a hybrid tube preamp/buffer and complete with VU meters. The amp startup and shutdown sequence is all controlled from the tube buffer board. Completely safe startup and shutdown with no pops or thumps. You don’t want a speaker pop from a 600w per channel amp. This amp is now ready to get packaged into a custom made chassis.

I mentioned an earlier version of this tube buffer in post 14. The current one is rev 3.
What’s On the Bench Tonight (OBT)
This is called the HyperSET - it’s basically a BTSB buffer with an ECC88 SET cathode follower with the other half of the tube acting as a CCS and this is placed in between the SE to Bal conversion stage. There are DIP switch selectable gains of 0/6/14/20dB just like on BTSB, but we also added a volume control. Throw in solid state relays and logic fo prevent speaker pop, and multiple DC/DC converters to make +90v B+, 6.3v for the filaments, and +/-15v for the opamps. It’s a commercial product so not available for DIY at the moment. It’s all SMT parts (where possible) and has over 300 components so quite the advanced build. It does sound wonderful though and has a switch that allows you to bypass the tube stage and go all solid state, the so called “linear” mode. In the SET mode, the distortion is still very low at 0.002% THD but with a dominant second harmonic distortion profile.

I missed it 😱
Pity that you have not intention to commercialise the ready board, since it would be perfect for a friend of mine that uses Hypex modules for woofers in his OB system...

It will be a commercial product - the HyperSET preamp. Will be a few more months though before it is a standalone product. It’s first going inside a commercial amp at this point… some initial renders of the chassis.

I like a 6DJ8 buffer in front of power amps, I use a variation of an Allen Wright OCL buffer (Cavalli's bootstrapped buffer). Just adds to the magic
PS render does indeed look gorgeous
