What’s On the Bench Tonight (OBT)

Are those light bulb resistive loads or vacuum tubes? Very bright. Looks like fun.
Good old American DHTs, here matched up with French driver tubes (EL36) and Soviet 6SJ7s at the input.
The amp can also use the higher mu version named TZ20 and, with some minor modifications, the funny looking 8025.

I slapped together two crossovers for some speakers I built a while ago (previous post).

Had them playing background music for most of the afternoon today. They are a little boomy compared to my OB main speakers, but sound great for haphazard futzing. Working title for the design is Beveldere. :clown:

Looking good.
To make the bass less boomy on my bookshelf speakers (when placed near the back wall) I filled the br ports with some sponges which decreased considerably the output at 40hz.

Will have to try the boo(with lu) again on the new speakers.
How did you adjust the lu vds? I mean at what value did you set it?

Nice work! Those cabinets look familiar! 🙂

What woofers did you end up using?

I didn't. :deerman: I just left it where you set it. Nice looking speakers you have there!

SB16PFCR25-8 are installed now. I also have some Sliver Flute W17RC38-08 to try. Probably in a second pair of those cabinets with a different tweeter, and ported instead of passive radiator... :smash:

In case anyone needs RTR speaker solid state relays. I am starting another batch of production but will need 15 pairs of pre-orders to proceed. If you are part of the pre-order, you get the SSR's at a discounted price of $100/pair vs $125/pair regular price. The interest list signup is here:

We have about 7 pairs of interest so far.

These are really hady to have around for your amp projects as they are small and unobtrusive and can be installed almost anywhere. They can even be installed inside a speaker but then will require a small 50mA 12vdc psu (like a small wall wart).

On the bench last night was a new 6.5in coax speaker crossover development.

The new crossover is sounding pretty great. The transients are crisp as the step response is a right triangle. This, coupled with coax point source means the imaging will be fantastic.

Easy to drive impedance.

Pretty nice bass too. The highs are from a small horn loaded compression driver (with a phase plug).
