I read all kinds of things somewhere including sound improvement by using cable lifters or drinking some kind of potion that can lengthen life. There is a lot more where that came from, that so called "somewhere", especially after the internet went public.
Of course, but we all develop judgment over time and for many of us we are able to filter out a good deal of what is nonsense. Those with better BS filters have a potential advantage.
"Personally I think it is an unsolvable issue, people are divided by what they believe"
It's human nature. And it's easily exploitable.
He also says we're brainwashed by our education. He's the only one that didn't go to college. He brags how he beat a bunch of college grads in business, which is true. In fact, he made more money than all of us combined as a commodity trader. But he extrapolates that to mean that his expertise on every topic exceeds that of all college grads. He likes to argue with me about physics, and he doesn't know the first damn thing about it. Never mind that I actually studied physics at the university level (I'm brainwashed), and that I can write equations that actually describe stuff and match our observations. No, he read some stuff on the internet that PROVES (insert fringe quackery here).
It is painful. We go back 50 years. He's a real friend because he's helped me more than once, and he would help me again.

Answer is simple……don’t believe anything!
It may be selfish but I don’t don’t buy into the mass hysteria du jour.
‘We’ as a collective sure do get wadded up easily (there seems to be some innate urge to be correct in what we believe……if you don’t believe anything you can never be wrong!)
There’s a beginning and end to everything…….Just relax and enjoy the middle while ya can.

These is all under our control, it is all based on political choices, not some natural limit.
Look at the Scandinavian countries for example, or countries like Italy. It is also part of the social agenda, so its a choice.

That doesn't make sense, you can't choose where to be born.
Nor can we choose our genetics.
Nor can we choose the information we receive, it will always be biased by the ideology of one side or the other.
It is A choice. Maybe not your or mine, but ultimately *somebody’s* choice.
I suppose if you didn’t like the country, political, or ideological system you were born into you would have the *choice* of getting out or die trying. Choosing *how* to live isn’t always an option, more often than not (overall, statistically, over 7 billion inhabitants) it is out of an individual’s control. Consider yourself lucky if it is. Things tend to be evolving that way, but we are a long way from having universal human rights. In order for people to survive 3000 years, we’d have to move past that particular hurdle or it will get very messy.

That's one of the biggest issues in our society.Of course they all think they are well-informed and it's 'the others' that miss the plot.
Of course but don't forget that the BS-ers are also out there trying to do their thing for their advantage and that includes destroying the BS filter. Those with better BS filters have a potential advantage.
This includes the vast majority, revealing the loonies. If this is not so, do you think we would have arrived where we are as a human race?Of course, but we all develop judgment over time and for many of us we are able to filter out a good deal of what is nonsense.

The point was that 'we' lock away our older generation and don't look after them. That is what I meant, it is a (political) choice how we treat them.

An audio acquaintance of me is an American who moved to live and work in Sweden many years ago, exactly for the reasons discussed above as well as the excellent medical care system even if you're not a billionaire. Last time I saw him he looked pretty happy.

I don't see it as political but personal.

Glass half full or half empty? One might think the world is in a mess in many regards because in most cases BS filters are inadequate and many are are piloted in their actions by beliefs.
If we are hard-wired by our DNA then 3,000yrs isn’t going to see much change.

OK, yes, agreed. But there's only so much a single person can do. Somehow society must organize it.

Couldn’t agree more, to repeat an earlier comment, I think the Quixotic quest to colonize other planets is quite possibly the single worst idea in the history of humankind; and yes, that includes disco and Quadraphonics.
+1. But there is a good funny side of it in that stupid world of entertainment and good news competition at TV between two soap ads: J. Bezos is going to satelize -satinaze?- an oldMa ! Anf if not the G, the CV-19 will catch her !
I would say : when you die ealier you enjoy the death... longer !

Looking around, that may not be such a bad thing.
Apparently, you saw something when you looked around. I wonder if what you saw was something messy...One might think the world is in a mess in many regards because in most cases BS filters are inadequate and many are are piloted in their actions by beliefs.

Did the guy of Virgin bought O2 for the poors ? Nah he burnt 60 tons of fuel and create as much C02 for a children dream.
It says two things, if you wanted to live 3000 years, most will stay somehow the slaves of richest that are degenarating themselves for kids dreams or at worst enjoy more and more stupid experiences because they already did all !
That's the problem with the human kind, your body can stay young longer... your soul never...There are nothing better than the innocence of the first experiences... after often you become jaded and have a sort of life procuration/proxy through the eyes of your little kids...
3000 years will ask some Men in Black souvenir eraser gadget... then what the interest of living so long. Will the mind operate an adaptation or should I stay virgin till my 2000 yo cause hope is often better than experience and desire per definition is what you have not yet... or after a time, what you never had ?
Should I have the envy of the newest IPhone mark 2543 anymore ? We already live longer but became more stupid having slided since last century for the richest in an entertainment definition of life... which frustrated maybe more than it helped. All of that to see people that think their liberty is to have no vaccination...
But who am I, Netflix just learned to me, the church knights met the Kahn in China, the assassins, also Marco Polo made kung Fu and I'm sure we will see Britney Spears as gale druid with a string in Saison 3.
We need weeds more than years.

Exactly, but history itself is proof. If natural selection has any merit,(and I don't think it's relevant, but for those who do..) the glass is always half full.Glass half full or half empty?
