What would you do if you lived forever?

Please let us know what terminated the Roman empire.

One phrase will be a slogan. Your question reflect you re not anknowledge to that question and you seem to be ok with simple moral idea.
Where should I start as this process is longer than your own country history you didn t digest already.
Do you know a big part of your own institution came from there. Do you really think it colkapsed from moral crisis or a problem of bread. Had you only a 10 hours curse about roman empire and then you want gives me lessons?
Common ..the roman empire was such a thing than its institutions last centuries after the said dates of its colkapsing for 101 history curses you seem to defend. Where should I start for you ? End of the Republic ? Christian crisis and Constantine? Andrinople collapse? Supply chain...word you can understand. Geopolitic ? Do you know well geography of this part of the world, the complexity of the multiple cultures and how it was important till the beginning of the multiple european renaissances that have sometimes more than one century about their beginning starting dates...for 201 curses to stay simple? Did you understand rhe middle age and its influences? How the said barbarians were roman yet...?

Please read first....it is is not as simple again as an holywood movie on it or a Netflix doc.

Nore a slogan like it collapsed from a moral crisis. Stupid fast word from a member who is not stupid btw. Your insistance is on this subject. I will not follow your cowboy ego...
Pleaaaaaaase as is saying the english queens from its german origins...

Mandarin and english will be the language I will bet .... though spanish, french and arabian may have little not diect influence.

At Fast Eddy...of course I did my stupid french gale...Evenharmonics is a boy I like but I can not let him imagine it is simple as that and a rethoric competition...so a good double hand sword in the face is what gales can do...as simple as a bbq....we are still barbarians heritage...I joke.

I wasn't referring to him. I was referring to the parallels between the Roman Empire and the US Empire. You know, the military adventures, the inefficient and corrupt ruling class, etc. Also the technological advances, the co-opting of religion to control the people...history repeating himself.

It ain't over till the fat lady sings. The USSR ran like a clock right up until the end. We can look at the collapse of the USSR for a possible glimpse of a post-USA world. Culture, institutions, business partnerships, even fiefdoms still remain today. So does nostalgia for and allegiance to the collapsed state. Wouldn't it be the same when the US collapses?

The Empire is spread pretty thin. Uncle Sam has been laser focused on Afghanistan and Iraq for 20 years now. The whole war effort and mission creep have cost Uncle Sam dearly. The whole infrastructure is crumbling and the debt is high.

The situation at home has been neglected. Now there's more debt to fix the home front. All I can say is I hope it works.

Afghanistan has been called the graveyard of empires. Afghanistan contributed greatly to the demise of the USSR in my opinion. Now history repeats itself?
It appears that keynesianism doesn't work with Afghanistan as well with Vietnam perhaps because these countries haven't yet abort feudalism?

Which brinks to the Roman Empire collapse... The world simply couldn't go on with slavery any more. Feudalism was introduced as innovation at that time...

"Keynesianism" works when the money supply matches production and demand. Classic Keynesianism increases money supply with population growth. The current quantitative easing is creating money just to fill the hole in the economy from the lack of production and demand. The whole idea is for people to work and add value to the economy in exchange for wages. Just giving businesses money to remain closed and giving people money to sit at home is the opposite of Keynesianism, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

I'm not saying it's wrong, or unproductive; I'm just saying it's not the same as creating money by adding value to products and services. It's probably going to be inflationary, but I'm not aligned with the Chicken Littles who say it's going to cause hyperinflation. Time will tell.

From where I stand, USA is not colapsing. But people beleive so cause there life style is not as comfortable they think it should be. So parralelism with roman empire has nothing to see. Btw usa is not an empire...quite the opposit. Entropy is just at the command in all complex systems. Things evolve. Being 30 during 3000 is a system phantasm.

Liked the Island movie for human spare based on a novel. Again eternity is not the same for the poors and the richest. Half of the answers about more life are seen from a cunsumerism point of view...not a surprise.

Of course, collapsing of roman empire has nothing to see with slavery... Feudalism was a good period for slavery as it was after. If slavery and small incomes constructed US, it was not unique...

@ heavenharmonic: nice dialectic try but you started I just answered first at the level you shown, i.e. parody.

I am wondering if living 3000 could keep the feeling of hapiness when it pops up in our life the same after few hundref years and without it costs to others as a bill. This side of the algorythm is what I would like to know. What the bill for us and the others if one live 3000 years. Wiil it be great again...always great?

Feudalism replaced slavery with serfdom, still no freedom, agreed. Although slavery still exists in many forms, it's not the dominant status as in ancient world, certainly not in compliance with capitalism. When Germans started pushing the Roman boarders they were still at the state of the racial law. That's far more ancient than slavery which did not exist in Germans. They were organized in a communal agricultural economy. It seems the Romans couldn't fight that.

Magicbus...it is false but it would push the discussion too much off topic.
Germans had slave, prisoners from other tribes. I agree the slave statut is different between areas but people than have the propertie of other people was everywhere. Serfdom could be harder than slavery in roman empire often...more or less the same at the end. And btw was terrible in Germany very lately.
And again...no. Romans didn t collapse because the concept of german freedom that pushed from the borders. They pushed but not for that...or just against and because roman empire.
Ok let stop there...

What is the name of that movie where a man was professor...imortal from the prehistoric times Hewas Jesus, met Budha. All the action is in the living room of a Chalet....?

The time it took you to write the above could have been used for citing one aspect that brought down the Roman Empire. 🙄

Thanks bigun...Yes I think it was somerhing like the Man who live on Earth something. This film was about explaining to a little group that what people believe to know is false or not really understood about history. And to walk towards the future you need to understand the past. Despite the guy was Jesus...wow. Very cool moment and not an expensive movie with mussles at the glory service of the Nation.

If the empire is collapsing it is maybe we are lazy and prefer to watch movies. Then we accept short ideas as a truth. That is cool some named novels and not only movies. That proves many continue to read books after they pass their final exam and not only shoe shines weakypedia or their own job corpus.
If i had 3000 more I 'd love to spend time to understand the last 3000 years before. Not only hearing music like watching games. Not being lazy when you beleive you have time is a challenge though. Most of us with some years know the interest in life was not the destination but the travel.
