These two always trigger my suspicion:
1.) patented
As if the legal status of an idea would correlate in any way with its quality.
2.) uncompromising, no-holds-barred etc
As if there could ever exist any piece of engineering that is without compromise. Often found in adverts, whitepapapers and brochures of ridiculously expensive equipment.

Charles

Although that is indeed commonly used to lend legitimacy to nonsense (patent does NOT mean it actually works!), it also is important to put the legal status on packaging and literature in the event of litigation. That can be the difference between proving infringement and proving knowing infringement.

I actually stopped reading magazine reviews many years ago now, once I started to understand that they were all basically full of crap.

Like Richie I stopped when I realised that they were to all intents and purposed pointless. Although did put me onto my current speakers. Although i decided my current temp phono stage (DPA) was good as the linnie who reviewed it said it lacked 'PRAT'. This to me indicated neutrality!

Fast Bass
is another term that gets me going !!!
If someone is talking about fast bass then this is what I show them what I call fast bass:

And this is slow bass (and by no means played with less virtuosity):

Yes, fast bass, especially when it's about a sub.
