my hears (not me 🙂 )tend to like polypropilene cones , maybe because they are high damped ?
Yup, polycones are GOOD! But never have the LIVELINESS of paper. I only add this because I always enjoy your contributions, Iduarte, but look at this frequency response with a Visaton 5" bass and 2" tweeter. Isn't that just ruler flat from 500 to 5kHz? Marvellous. I have to re-evaluate my impression of two way systems. 😀
(bit of a bitch to source that tweeter, but I'll persevere.)

That looks like some sort of reflex on the tweeter, jitter. You might be OK with reflex, but closed box would feed a bit of bass/mid pressure into it! FWIW, looks like a fairly straightforward second order crossover to me. 🙂
At port tuning, there's more pressure in the cabinet than in a sealed box.
You could try voelkner.de or reichelt.de. They charge 9.95 € for shipping to UK AFAIK.(bit of a bitch to source that tweeter, but I'll persevere.)
You are aware that boxsim simulates off axis response from the piston model? No Gaussian hyperbole here 😉. But my measured off axis data for the FRS5X above 6 kHz are better than the Boxsim diagrams. The small dome works. 🙂

Looks very flat indeed. I'd still do something to correct that 3dB peak at 15Khz though, I correct a much smaller 1dB peak at around 16Khz on my ribbon tweeters and I find the difference quite noticeable, (both imaging and smoothness) so I certainly wouldn't leave a 3db peak uncorrected. The dip at 8Khz may be audible too.Yup, polycones are GOOD! But never have the LIVELINESS of paper. Well Ill be damned! 😀
Ive been simming the (almost) exact thing in boxsim...lol

Ive got some rough attempts using the w130(?), which you used, but i ended up using the AL130 simply because I have some here. For metal cones, theyre really alot less 'metallic' than I thought they could be.
The bigger plan is to mate the FRS5X i have just had delivered with the Mission CP134 and CP168 that I bought at the same time.

The idea being to make 2 pairs of small 'near FAST' monitors, using paper coned drivers only, and on a minimal budget.
I got all of my drivers through Strassacker:
2 off CP134
2 off CP168
4 off FRS5X
less than £110 GBP, including delivery from all the way from Germany! I recommend them, Ive had no delivery issues with them so far, and I have used them a few times now. Try them. They were the cheapest too, RS are a rip off.
