... this is going to affect the tropics.
Not much wrt food production and energy consumption. Of course regions in the tropics will lose some coastal area when sea level significantly rises in 50-100 years. We planned for it and some of the short term plan has already been deployed. We have no plan if it gets slightly colder in the next GSM affected decades but but won't die starving nor frozen either. Seems people living in Northern hemisphere would suffer much worse if it gets slightly colder with no plan as well.

Again I repeat my agreement that CO2 emission needs to be drastically reduced ASAP, sequestered whenever possible. Down here in Indonesia we are reducing energy consumption, doing 30% biofuel hopefully next year, and increase of deployment of other alternatives.

This forgets about methane leaks.

Methane is far more noxious than CO2.

Furthermore, gaz in Europe, mostly from Poutinland, comes from old leaky infrastructures, with presently methane leaks that make this gaz worse than coal.

Methane has more than 80 times the warming power of carbon dioxide over the first 20 years after it reaches the atmosphere. Even though CO2 has a longer-lasting effect, methane sets the pace for warming in the near term.
A synthesis of the research found that the U.S. oil and gas industry was emitting at least 13 million metric tons of methane a year — about 60% more than the Environmental Protection Agency estimated at the time. The volume represents enough natural gas to fuel 10 million homes.

Don't you starve the poor people to produce biofuel ?
Do you have enough land to feed everybody fairly ?
It's mostly based on palm oil. We have over production here since european reduce consumption, price of frying oil is about US$ 70 cent per liter, cheaper than rice our staple food. Buying price for biofuel is around 45 cents, can not compete with consumption as food.

Again I repeat my agreement that CO2 emission needs to be drastically reduced ASAP, sequestered whenever possible.
But, is sequestering of CO2 actually going to be possible on the scale required any time soon?

It bugs me every time a green energy representative comes on the radio and talks about "carbon capture" as if it were already part of their energy strategy, instead of it still being at the project planning stage.

Carbon capture technology: Why we aren’t further along

And then we could all have a whale of a time! 😀

It goes without saying that whales are not a fix-all solution to our environmental problems. Even if whale populations were restored to pre-commercial whaling levels and the most optimistic figures are revealed to be true, the total carbon sequestration would still be just a few percentage points of the overall amount of man-made CO2.

I found a whale stores 33 tons of CO2 in it's life span, but no data about Methane in whales farts.

Boris Johnson has announced that he is sending in a Bomb Disposal team to defuse the ticking bomb of Climate Change. 😕

I have been banging on for ages about Methane, Nitrous Oxide and CO2. 😡

There is great deal of nonsense, er, spouted about Whales and Global Warming too. Everybody knows that when a body decomposes, the basic elements are given back to the Ocean.

There are people who believe regular eruptions by Krakatoa are cause by the Grand Minimum Solar Cycle which recurs every 100 years. Palpable nonsense. Krakatoa is a Caldera that just blows up every 100 years, just because it feels like it.

There are people who believe The Thames froze last winter because of Climate change. More piffle. Teddington Lock froze because of a lack of boats using the Lock during Covid lockdown, thus reducing water flow.

It's time to throw away the cheeseburgers and get on our bikes. 🙂

I have already moved onto a greenhouse gas free diet. And very good it is too. Just add boiling water! 🙂

And my neighbourhood abounds with free and natural sources of vegetables involving no CO2 emitting transportation to my kitchen. Greta sent me this link:
