New counters? Do you mean smart meters? This fits perfectly with the new counters, connected so they can monitor and command remotely. Counters Linky.
We have at hand all the fission nuclear power we will ever need (until fusion will finally develop and mature) but the fear mongering Greta's of the world are deadly against. In fact, it's the politicians following the hysterics induced by the media after Fukushima, not the science logic. Happens more often than we like to admit, education and critical thinking are hard.
Probably one of the very few moments when a former POTUS was absolutely right was when he suggested Greta to go to a movie with her friends instead of...

I've never heard about this - do you have links to academic papers?
Sorry, I'm not following closely this topic, but I will ask my friend about.
I thought that the efficiency was much lower than that. I read somewhere that the human on a bicycle was the most efficient form of transportation ever devised. Reaching some 23% efficiency, calculated from food calories consumed and kWh produced at the crank. And that was for a pro racer in the TdF, with the difference between the yellow Jersey and last place finisher being a tenth of a percent. The rest of us struggle to get it into the 20’s at all.
Surely an albatross is better than that? Their wings lock in position and they sleep on the wing - one half of the brain at the time. Once they're over the initial flapping, its just soaring.
The hole in the Ozone layer has been fixed, but only in the sense the hole isn't getting bigger any more. It's reduced by about 20% in, what, 10-15 years. Takes ages for these gases to get out of the atmosphere. Same with Greenhouse gases it seems. Carbon Dioxide is the most lingering.
Interesting to think about the fact that it took about 1 billion years for oxygen levels to get to the point where there was enough of the stuff to trigger the formation of O3 and then another few hundred million years for it to form - job completed about 600 million yrs ago. 50 million years later we have the Cambrian explosion. IIUC, the hole in the ozone layer will take centuries to close.
for CO2, about 70% is removed within a century of production due to photosynthesis, but the remaining 30% can only come out through weathering and that takes 250-400 thousand years.
Since 1860, we've pumped 2.5 trillion tones into the atmosphere - now running at 40 gigatons per year.

I know, well northern Manitoba at the Artic circle.Because that area is already an (ice) desert.
Many summers camping and canoing. It is not an ice desert there.
I do not understand, Canada interested in wind turbines, there is so much hydro resources not used yet. I know Crees do not like it, but would they like better wind turbines all over their hunting grounds scaring caribous and mouses away.
I don't think the mice would notice. Maybe the caribou, though. 🙂
Hydro resources not used yet? Can you elaborate?

So why did you change its meaning, Pete?
He did not simply say "not used yet" as you suggest.

Oups: Moose.I don't think the mice would notice. Maybe the caribou, though. 🙂
For instance, on the Churchill river in Manitoba, from surveys by Manitoba Hydro, you have Twin falls, Grandville falls, and 3 other places near Churchill. The Nelson river has other possibilities. There are many hydro dams to power mines and mining communities, a major activity of this province and much more is possible if needed depending of demand.Hydro resources not used yet? I don't understand the stereotype attached to the Irish , their whiskey can't hold a candle to good scotch. And I was born in Ireland! 😀
Sure, how useful is that to the rest of the country, though. Other than that, we have Niagra Falls, right?Oups: Moose.
