I've once been told that the quickest way to identify an idiot is by observing his/her complete lack of modesty. It might not be useful to doubt your own abilities, but it's only a symptom of high intelligence 😉

Besides, a theory based on observations is, most likely, a lot more useful than one based on a dream. Working professionally with something gives you a substantially larger amount of observations for reference.

Agreed,

The whole point of the thread is theoretical discussion and links or ideas connected to links of people working in the field. There is no attempt to try to place the discussion on a cutting edge. That would be preposterous.

Therefore there should be no reason for anyone to make a statement of ability. I'm an engineer not in astrophysicist.

So does everyone in the thread have to make the same statement?

I know one thing for sure I know much more now than I did before researching the subject.
If Michio Kaku or Stephen Hawking happened to make a response that would be great but some how I don't think its going to happen..😀

I'm surprised that some Physics types haven't had an input, to some its just nuts. To some they can't or don't want to step out of the box.
I guess you could even be cutting edge in your field in astronomy and still only be able to guess at ideas based upon the point that science has reached so far.
There is not a definitive answer for anyone. Just a level of understanding in the flat universe society 😀

So does anyone know?

What is energy and does it have mass..
Or is energy the result of a system a bit like time?
An effect created by interaction.

I saw on a physics forum an answer of:

What is energy? answer what is length?
Ie on its own it has no meaning..

If I have to follow the logic of my previous statements, I'd have to say that both energy and time is a by-product of the constant increase of entropy. But then gravity becomes a problem... I guess you can see at as a force that slows down the transition to energy.

How many think there was something before the big bang?

I depends on how you define existence and time. But my short answer would be: Yes... maybe? I'm open to the idea 🙂

Its a shame,

I would like to do a Poll..

How many think there was something before the big bang?

I guess you can't do an ongoing poll..😕

Maybe it was just the most recent Big Bang of which we think we know...
There's no eye witness. So there may have been many Big Bangs, and many other "times".
Hope this isn't off topic, but if we still have all this matter, shouldn't symmetry provide an equal amount of antimatter to observe?
Or maybe we can only see the natural stuff when it goes boom with our kind of matter?

Even traveling at the speed of light you cannot escape our own galaxy the milkyway since human age is under<100years

If we could travel 200000 times faster than the speed of light and found the edge of this universe we would get another universe like a round shape still no end.

Galaxy holds stars and planets
Universe holds galaxies
Cosmos holds the universes

Cosmos>>??!>>Universe>>Galaxy>>Star>>Planet>>Asteroid

How many think there was something before the big bang?
The big bang is only about our universe not other universes so yes something existed

Definitely not off topic 🙂

Antimatter gravity could explain Universe's expansion

The "doughnut theory" is the most widely accepted. It suggests that you simply return to your point of origin if you keep moving in one direction:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Three-torus_model_of_the_universe

Galaxy holds stars and planets
Universe holds galaxies
Cosmos holds the universes

Cosmos>>??!>>Universe>>Galaxy>>Star>>Planet>>Asteroid

"Cosmos" is a concept that dates back to the times when people believed the earth was flat. It holds very little meaning today 🙂

As per physics it not true you will not return back if you go straight.

Physics is what is the real thing.
Example if you go with a flying car on straight road you will soon be flying up and further away and then reach out of earth.

It's incredibly headache inducing to think about, but all evidence (so far) points to the fact that the universe is shaped like a three-torus. It's a shape that's impossible to represent with a two-dimensional picture. The only way to describe it is to use math, and it's far beyond my capabilities.

The strange thing about a three-torus is that it has all three dimensions of space going in circles :boggled:

The only reason why we precieve the dimensions as going in straight lines, is because the circumferences of these circles are unbelievably large.

Perhaps the dog toys have the answer..😀
