Lenny Bruce.I was brought up in that era of comedy. It seemed sad to see them resort to the foul mouth stuff to get attention later on.

Many more but by golly this is a thread about resistors, how selfish of me.
Oh, wait...
The one thing that strikes me about Lenny Bruce, now that it's easy to access recordings and videos of his performances is... he really wasn't very funny.

By today's standards, no, but he was considered outrageous at the time.
I think he was arrested for saying "bad" things.

I laughed last week at Mort Sahl doing one of his stories, not quite sure why just the delivery is enough. I think he got Lenny some early gigs.
Then don't look up the term "Long Pig".....or any bacon that comes with a human first name.
In a similar vein, I recently picked up an LP collection of Fred Allen's "Allen's Alley" radio shows circa 1948. Not very funny. Pleasant, corny, but not very funny. How was he so popular? The one thing that strikes me about Lenny Bruce, now that it's easy to access recordings and videos of his performances is... he really wasn't very funny.
oooook guys, question was : what's a resistor ? only this fundamental question ...![]()
It's the opposite of a conductor.
I wanna be a Conductor when I grow up.
Especially if that conductor is Keith Lockhart

Did you hear about the conductor that was sentenced to receive 10,000 volts in the electric chair for murder? He walked away after being shocked..... How is this possible?
He was a bad conductor.
He was a bad conductor.

He was in a movie version of Ransom of Red Chief (part of "O. Henry's Full House"), where you can get a good sense of what a fine comic actor he was.
"Conductor" and "Not very funny but strangely popular": http://darrelkirby.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/on-the-buses.jpg
Conductors and resistors are the same thing, just as resistance and conductance are the same thing just inverted.

I thought about this after I posted and figured somebody would catch me on my mistake. Yes resistance is the inverse of conductance.
