Cal, perhaps you missed some of Bill Cosby's earlier (and best in my opinion) standup routines - from the first half a dozen comedy albums (63 - 69).
I listened to them at a neighbors house as a kid. The only titles I remember are "Why is there air" and "200 Miles an Hour."
SonyFan said:No. It is 42. You make the string 42 long. Haven't you taken a math class?
Ah, I get it. This piece of string belongs to a mathematician. It is inextensible, and hanging on the end of it is an elephant whose mass can be ignored.SY said:Dimensionless quantity.

The elephant is spherical, duh... 😀
hmm, you couldn't resist 😉 Or reluctant maybe ? 😛
It's easier to induce the reluctant than overcome the impedance of a resistor.
There are many good things about a meatless diet, I just wasn't put on this earth for that. Too bad, I could be like SY; Live to a hundred then lie in a hospital bed dying of nothing.

The elephant is four-dimensional, but we can't perceive it.
Sorry for the delay.Actually O rings that have been touched by human hands are to be avoided in high vacum systems!
I've now had the opportunity to ask Dieter* about this.
He was absolutely horrified at the idea that anybody would want to subject one of his O-rings to a hard vacuum, and suggested** that the sort of Phillistine who wished to subject their O-rings to that sort of abuse would probably be better off buying some lesser brand.

edit: P.S. i think the implications for audio are obvious.
