45, you don't think the time vs freq domain thing is old hat to some people? It seems to be an argument I have heard enough to yawn at. Yes it is correct. Is it any big revelation? No.

Yes you are right. It's not a revelation. The point is: has someone considered the consequences and moved in that direction? The answer is: no!!
That is the "revelation"!!🙂

Yes and yes. You should read more.
Best, Markus

I am sorry but I don't take advice from someone who doesn't know what is speaking of and who doesn't know anything about me!
Thanks.

You obviously don't know much about me too.
Have nice day, Markus

The difference is I am not advising you to do anything!
If I tell you I don't need to read about something there is a reason. I have done it a long time ago.....!
Cheers,

Guys,
I suspect this thread was an excersise in stirring the pot, and it has succeeded thus far! Can't we all just get along?!

I think this thread's been beat to death. Egos are starting to get in the way of meaningful discourse that advances the cause of DIY audio.
😡

😡 Excuse me?!! No it hasn't!!! I disagree!!! Where are your measurements?! Dr. So-and-So backs up what I'm saying here.
😀
Well.... I wold agree that we tend to talk about FR more than we should - and neglect the time domain. There are at least a few brave souls here who do fly the "time domain flag." It may be just as important, if not more so.

So there goes two hours of my life reading this thread, do I regret it? No. Made me think about how I enjoy this hobby and why I DIY. To me audio is more art than a science, more subjective than objective. Good music and good reproduction of music stirs the soul, how do you measure that? I do appreciate many of the ideas on this site, good food for thought. The opinions are hit or miss.

from link said:Chesty - The vocalist sounds like their chest is too big. A bump in the low frequency response around 125 to 250 Hz.
And for some singers, having a bigger chest wouldn't be such a bad thing at all 😛😎
Planet10, it is enough to understand they continue to theorize in the frequency domain about something that happens in the time domain, not having a unique way to correlate the results.
Measurements using other instruments than humans cannot serve. Acutally they are misleading if you try to sort the musical performance out them.
Floyd's primary "measuring" tool, are human beings.

By default, single FR drivers tend to be time coherent. We have a very active FR menagerie here.

It is not enough.
Still moving among classical acoustics: frequency response, equalization above all. No idea of self-correlated masking otherwise (analog and electronic) equalization would be banned by default.
Looks like he just wants to standardize some type of reproduction......
Seems like you have made up your mind and will not even consider that there might be some useful tidbits from others. Toole shows actual results from a lot of research into what people hear. Very useful stuff. I wasn't expecting to resonant at all with the book from the snippets on the net. But i found lots of stuff in the book that i am finding useful, and a lot of validation in it, for the paths i've taken.
You mention a "gurus" name... Google turns up nothing. Got more info?
