Hello all.
I'm building a 90 L cabinet, and i'm thinking what type of cable can i use.
Some says cat 5 cable is fine, others multi copper with bigger diameter...
Can someone enlight me on this subject please?
I'll use 20 W tube amp.
Thanks for your help.

I just changed the wiring of my speakers and found that solid core copper wire had a noticeable impact on the sound.
I used 2mm solid copper wire, and it opened up the sounds from the previous cheap-bought-in-bulk "speaker" multi strand wire.
It's not easy to wrestle it in place, but it was worth it.

Unless it's hair thin wire it Will Not matter/ make audible difference.
Resistance is all speaker/power wires care about.
Often it's the connectors/connections that are substandard inside speakers.... Not the wires used 😉

Over the short distance within a speaker cabinet you are probably rightResistance is all speaker/power wires care about.
I am always leery of descriptions of wires when stated in audiophile terms. My experience is wire is wire. My current speakers are bi-wired with a single run of cat5 cable. Three pairs to the woofer, one pair to the full-range. And yes, the connectors are speakons.

I use Cat6 solid core. Solid core is very easy to work with and Cat6 is typically 23 gauge compared with 24 gauge Cat5 (so it is a mite thicker).
If the driver is 1 fullrange speaker you should solder the speaker cable direct at the driver terminals, avoid use connectors and a different cable from the speaker cable.Hello all.

Changes in the wiring where the musical signal runs damage the final result, mainly the musical harmonics;
1.0mm2 or 1.5mm2 solid core (stripped from twin and earth) copper twisted pair, 2 twists per ft.
IF you can get it from a house re-wire, it'll be well run in...... 😀 😀 😀

I used to buy canare star quad and double up the leads for my mains. Had another custom cable for my subs. Then I happened to win a pair of 3-way 10" Seas monitors on ebay that had been in a radio station in Boston. Turns out they didn't even have speaker connections on the back. But there was a 20 gauge 20 foot wire on each running thru a siliconed hole in the back of the cabinet, soldered directly to the crossover. This took me aback at first but then I realized I can pump 100 watts /channel from a Soundcraftsman amp thru these things in the studio and they are blasters and don't distort. Hmmm, Now I'm comfortable wiring all my foamcore creations with Cat5 direct.

We use single strands of copper pulled from CAT5/6 cable.

Dave, is it because of the ultra high frequency it is capable of transmitting (although digital switching info) through long distances?
It is because it sounds good, and costs next to nothing. A Frugel-Phile™ approach — we know cables make a difference, but these keep us out of the snake oil discussion.

Do you mean single strands of insulated Cat5/6 cable? or a single copper wire strand pulled out of the insulator jacket???
A pair of strands pulled from a CAT 5 cable.
Unless you do a really long run the resistance is negligable.
