Now, vintage. My favourite (I don't have them but a friend has 2 pairs!) is the Voigt Corner Horn. His main pair have possibly the rarest drivers that were made: Voigt (or Lowther) field coil drivers (from the '30s).
I could not have a pair; my house is not suitable, but one would be very very nice. Effortless class.

I remember the DQ 10 to be vile on the top without mods. I am ever so glad drivers have improved as much as they have.

Has anyone mentioned Gale? I hated them but they were the darling of the press when they were new. I bet a lot of people have fond memories of D35's and baby Advents. Not great, but solid mid-priced speakers real people bought.

Any chance you could get your friend to post some pics of these. Rare as hens' teeth as singles!...never mind a pair😱 I had a chance to meet Mr. Voigt once without knowing anything about the man or his electronics legacy...many members here, I am sure, would love to see some detailed shots of these...what a treat it must have been to hear these.....:yummy:

I remember my first visceral reaction to "Feeling the Music". I was literally thrown around by these with Mark Levinsons attached. There is nothing else quite like them anywhere.

Doing a quick search on Google I don't find anything about "Mark Levinson" speakers..

I found Red Rose and Daniel Hertz but no speaker model by ML... 😕

EDIT: After re-reading a 4th time I see the ML's were "attached".. I thought those were Klipsch speakers...

Here are some examples from the ,,LoudpeakerHistory" of Mark Levinson.
First the legendary HQDsystem, 3 way fully Active with a pair of 24 Inch Hartley Woofer, two Quad ESL-57 in a special stand er side and a single Decca-London Ribbon-Horndriver between the two Quad`s!
Driven by a ML-3 and two or three pairs of ML-2 and a pair of LNC-2 Active Crossovers.
The next two are some of the Cello Speakers, the Amati, a small closed Speaker that could be used as a normal single pair, but also stackable up to 4 Amatis per side!
The next is the bigone of Cello, the Grandmaster, full of Dynaudiodriver.
2 x 12 inch Woofer 30W100 and 16 softdomes, 8 x D52 and 8 x D21 from Dynaudio.

Surgery made on one tweeter, since the cable burned of at some party. Replaced the surroundings on the other one (actually the one with the baffle off. But theese are my sweetest sounding ones - miles in front of Monitor Audio RS-1, Quads or Paradigm Titans all of the same size or slightly bigger.

Regards

Outstanding! Thank you for that info and the pictures! I did know Mark made some speakers under different brand names (Chello and Red Rose for example) but to my knowledge never under the ML brand name.. I think that was always electronics hence my confusion earlier with the Klipsch speakers "drive by" ML electronics. But excellent pictures and descriptions!!
