What are you Watching?

Watching Yellowstone right now. On commercial break.
A friend of mine recommended it. I watched a few minutes with Costner, and pretty sure I will like it.

After Squid Game, everything seems really, really bland, but I found something new which is gripping.

Currently watching:

- The Boys. Brutal, dark humour, sometimes some serious undertones. Superheroes for adults but not just about them. Karl Urban, Starr and Esposito are graet actors. The actresses do a fantastic job too. Not for everyone, it's quite gory and this has become a bit predictable. Finally a good show to watch after Squid Game, which was so brilliant it eclipsed everything else.

- The Great. High production comedy extremely loosely based on a Russian historical figure.

- The Expanse. Well I still need to start watching S06 E01 - it's out! Very well done Space Opera, great pacing.

- Foundation. Previous to last episode was great, but I expected to like it much more. I think it's a meandering woke mess.

- The Wheel Of Time. Here again, I expected to like it more but there are pacing issues. The world building is OK. Could have been much better. Here again, 'wokeism' rears its ugly head.

Currently awaiting:

- The Witcher, Season 2. Witcher draws me in more than Lord of The Rings and The Hobbit did. Sapkowski is very good, very very good. While they made a mess of Season 1 (not just the wokeisms) by rearranging the timelines and sequences, I am expecting the backlash on this to make them reconsider similar moves on S02. I actually attempted to finish The Witcher III - Wild Hunt while waiting for S02 and did the main storyline. I now have some side quests left.

Sometimes watching:

- Star Trek TNG. I really don't care about Discovery nor Picard.

- Farscape. One of my favourites, but I haven't finished the whole series.

I think I still have to finish Firefly too.

While my better half loves to watch Christmas movies around Christmas time, I am more inclined to continue two hypercycles of my own design: one is about World Wars, and the other one is about Westerns.

Can you believe I still haven't watched Silverado nor some of the classics?

I must not be the only one feeling that there are very little new great movies and it has been like that for a few years now, right?

Started watching Yellowstone on Episode 3. Been hooked ever since. Went back and binge watched occasionally. There are a lot of things you miss the first time thru - and things that happen way back in season 1 and 2 become relevant now.

ST:TNG was a mixed bag. It ranges from my favorite ST episodes ever to some real stinkers that make the original series look like renaissance art. DS9 was just consistently good. I have DS9 on just about every night on H&I.

It certainly is a mixed bag. Even Farscape has some duds along the way. I've resorted to skipping forward on the duds. I might even just grab a list of best episodes from the net and watch those only.

Forgot to add, we're also watching:

Black Sails

Definitely with you on binging when the story and production merits it, even if it means delaying the start of a new series. There’s certainly something to be said for sailing for several hours on the momentum of a well crafted story arc. Right now our family is sharing Netflix, Prime and Apple TV+, and even as a retired old fart, there’s almost not enough time to healthily enjoy the offering on the banquet table.

I agree, but holidays are a great time for that!

The Witcher S02 is tomorrow! However, we still need to finish Black Sails fast.

Besides, a gift for Christmas is the complete series of GOT.

Now that I've finished
The Boys S02, I feel that emptiness felt after the end of Squid Game again, but just noticed I only did Season 1 of Mr. Robot.

I haven't watched more than a few episodes of Battlestar Galactic
a (new series) either.

Seen a lot of bad ratings for Matrix 4. Not sure I want to watch it. I liked 1-3 though.

Watching GOT S02.

Watched Fatman. Extremely funny movie with Mel Gibson.

Spoiled Brats, French comedy, quite nice.

3:10 to Yuma, the very cool remake with Christian Bale and Russell Crowe. Really liked it.

The Witcher S02 went too fast. Liked it, it is more linear than S01 which was a mess, but I found it somewhat lacking. These episodes are based on the short stories before there were actual novels.
