Which most possibly are way out of their uF value and ESR spec by now anyway.
In fact, for ELCAPs that are over 45 years old, that is practically a given.
Aha. Ta.The ones I suggested in post #8: https://wilmslowaudio.co.uk/mundorf-electrolytic-ecap-capacitors
P.S. Bipolar = Non Polar = NP.
I can't make it out at all it looks like "V"@stubbs04
May I ask again, what is the date written on the rear of the woofer cone? 11/17/??
That is a pity!
My Wharfedale RS/12/DD drivers have the date of production hand written on the rear of the cone in the form dd/mm/yy.
One hails from '67 and the other from '69.

Another question please. Is it worthwhile to "upgrade" the existing wires and/or re solder connections to drivers etc? I would only do this if it's regarded to make an appreciable difference.
Neither. I had just read somewhere that when renovating speakers it was a good idea to replace/upgrade the red/black wires and soldering points. This is the wire that links drivers to cross overs I'm taking about not the circuitry solder on the crossover.

It is not necessary to upgrade the existing wires as the ones fitted by Wharfedale are adequate for the task.
The solder joints I can see in the images you have posted look fine to me. If you do spot a 'dodgy' one then reflow it.
@Galu
Update on my Linton restoration.
Changed the caps. First for me and pleased to say went well. I also added extra seals around the drivers and repositioned the wadding to sit evenly round the cabinet. WOW What a difference. The main thing I noticed was the stereo imaging it's now very spacious. Very crisp sounding speakers
Not thunderous bass but for classical tastes superb.
Thanks again for your help..🙏

Hi trying to restore a set of these speakers and amp for sentimental reasons (parents).
The sounds quality is poor, muffled probably a good description so suspect its the speakers rather than the amp.
Daft question how do you open the cabinet to get to the driver ?
Thanks in advance.

Hi
Gently pry the front grill using a screwdriver.
This will let you view the driver's.
The only way to get inside the cabinet is to then remove the driver and you can get at the crossovers etc.

Often when owners report that their speakers sound "muffled" it means that the tweeters are not working - perhaps having been burned out at a loud party!
After you remove the speaker grill, the first thing to do would be to put your ear close to a tweeter and check if it is, in fact, tweeting.
Please return if you require more assistance.
