Tobacco isn't more addictive, it is just easier to stay addicted.
Why?
1) It doesn't have immediate health risks.
2) It is legal (even encouraged)
3) It is socially acceptable (for the most part) -even "cool" in some circles
So, the only real reasons to quit tobacco are financial cost and long-term health risks. For many smokers, these are perfectly acceptable - as long as they can keep enjoying their smokes.
Is it hard to quit smoking? No. It's just really easy not to quit.
disagree, but how can a self proclaimed superman over any addiction proclaim the reasons for the other types , nope he can't.

When I smoked weed it was not a case of I couldn't live without it but rather it took me to a very nice place. And when you find a very nice place you want to go back to it whenever you can, so in that respect it was a choice, but not an easy one to change direction on. Not sure if that's what addiction is, in the end my motivation for stopping was the recognition that it was adversely affecting my mental health, had it not been for that I'd probably still be smoking it now.

pretty easy to narrow down what an addiction is, if you have to look it up , you haven't ever experienced it. compared to nicotine or opiates pot isn't addictive at all.
1) It doesn't have immediate health risks.
For the non-squeamish, type in Gargle images: Thromboangiitis Obliterans or Buerger Disease
9 of 10 Buerger's disease afflicted are total and utter nicotine addicts, they will smoke themselves up, finger by finger, toe by toe, limb by limb.
(seen more than my share of those, more avid Frequent OR-Mile savers than lumberjacks and carpenters combined)
that was my prime motivator, it was far too expensive to fund a full time smoking habit, so I managed to keep it to short spells usually around holidays or social occasions, a lot of people though would find this too hard.

Indeed. My father can't quite grasp how I can smoke cigarettes socially and not become a full-on smoker again. He knows if he had one puff he'd be back on them hard. Me, I can take 'em or leave 'em. When my in-laws visit from Japan, I smoke with my father-in-law the entire time. Typically 2 to 3 weeks straight. When they leave, I become a non-smoker again.
Alcohol is a bit different. I am better off completely abstaining. I can have a drink or two once in a while at a party, but if I start to have a beer a day, it soon becomes 2 a day, then 3, etc. until I find that I am going to bed with a solid buzz every night and then I start gaining weight and feeling like sh!t most of the time. So I stopped. I don't think I was ever a full-on alcoholic but I was damned close. It's been a few months now and I've been drinking de-alcoholized beer. I don't miss the real stuff one bit. But then again, I'm typically self-medicating with my vaporizer.

I have never proclaimed to be a superman over every addiction. In fact, I have been addicted to several things and there are many things I have avoided because I am uncertain whether I could quit them.
Either way, I think if tobacco was illegal, completely socially unacceptable, and posed real risks of death from overdose it would be much easier to quit.

I can live with people telling me I'm a dick. Sometimes they're right and sometimes they're wrong. This is the true touch of genius - knowing when you're being a dick.
this indeed is wise counsel.
@cogitech: I don't drink booze for much the same reason as I don't smoke weed anymore, it messes with my head, typically for at least 2 daysvafter a big drinking session my mood gets really low, not just a bit pissed off. So I try to avoid it generally, of course its bad for your physical health too.

The weed doesn't do that to me, but I think it is because I am vaping at a really low temperature and getting mostly THC and less of the other cannabinoids like CBD, etc. My eyes don't get red, I don't feel thick-headed or paranoid - I'm basically not getting "stoned" from it. Just a nice, light mood alteration that lets me deal with things in a more productive manner. I have two pre-teen daughters (actually, one is 13 now). Without weed, I'd be in an asylum by now.

Eating 2 packages of king size Camel's should do you in nice and properly, my son

One drop of pure nicotine can kill. I am aware of this.
For all practical purposes, there is no real immediate risk of death from cigs.

Yeah girls are a nightmare, I have two, the eldest will be 12 soon and the younger one is 6. Between theirs and my wife's mood swings it can be a very crazy household. I sneak away to the workbench when it gets too much! Yeah if I could get a smoke like you described it might be a positive experience. I also have my Valerian root capsules if things get too stressful.

For all you practical fag smugglers out there : do not shove ciggies up your ar.e
HAHAAAA. Cracked me up!

Ahh yes, the glorious work bench. If it isn't some PCBs to tinker with, then I am reloading ammunition or building speaker boxes, or cleaning my rifles, or rebuilding a dirt-bike engine, or modifying something in some way. If anyone ever wonders why some men have to have hobbies, then they have obviously never lived in a house full of women.
My dog (a male) even joins me down at the work bench.

let's see should I quit or go to jail, haha good choice
I think tobacco is socially unacceptable, at least here in California. already banned and taxed into virtual pariahs... I reckon the next step for nanny states is to indeed lock em up! Isn't that what George Orwell was writing about in '1984' . BTW he was a heavy smoker
Not sure but I think they can throw you in jail already for smoking in a car with a kid on board. IMO ex smokers are the worst fascists.
Temps mort !
Defintly a good mix than bass and piano : i love it ! 50% of my listenings are jazz and "world acoustic" instruments !
argh re listen to day Ty Segall : Stick around https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vnNfk0ZI9pA or The Feels: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hmYaTiJHLio ! rifs guitare are simple with no special high skill (i will give my right hand to play like that though !), voice is something already heard... but it stays minimalist while having a good energy... I enjoy it while having the sensation it's a simple soap... but goog to listen to at least for me !
@ Audiofreak ! It's not so wrong ! You could had been thinking of yourself in a worst manner, I believe you're alright. Just fix the situation with a Professional if you need it and increase interactions with the outside... even to a modest way ! Envies must be encouraged and sometimes you don't have any envy ! Try to make a speaker ! It will take you 10 years to listen always the same songs to listen to the setup... you risk to become really mad !
Imagine you would have been a black man hurted by a police car in your back in the South of America...or a woman and a fool one ! This is an ads moment to introduce our french Brigitte Fontaine... (PJ Harvey is a little white rabbit in relation to her) : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5JTy_PJr8Tg ("je suis malheureuse parceque je suis conne" : "I'm unhappy because I'm stupid" ! Imagine you were Brigitte Fontaine : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hZX3nip3Dp4 (live) ... no way to complain !
What a pity I don't have the translation of this song, you will see many has always a reason not to be happy ! Btw one could be mad to be happy !😀

He he 😀
Sometimes my cat ( a male ) sleeps on top of my workbench! Have no idea how it can be comfortable for him.
Listening to Level 42, The way back home....two burners in the ashtray...the wafting aroma of the Piggies( Pork fillets, 28mm thick) & taters swimming in with the piggie grease/oil.
Waiting with the music, herb in the ashtray, herbs all over the piggie & taters....awaiting wife picking up son from school....the rain a pitter-pater on the "man cave" i've adopted, from our addition.
Excuse me, musics over...

I've always found it bizarre how some people drink to get drunk. For me this is about as entertaining and useful as standing in front of a brick wall, and banging my head against it, harder and harder. Unforunately, Australia has quite a brainless attitude towards drinking, it's a social requirement to carry on in a dopey way - probably a hangover, 😉, from the convict days ...Alcohol is a bit different. We have a crazy drinking culture here in Scotland too and when you're younger you always aim to get as much down your neck before the bar closes. Now at 40+ I've learned to enjoy a good glass of scotch or a fine ale purely for the pleasure of the taste experience.
