I wouldn't mind that, I'm german.

We could supply both sides with enough guns to keep them busy for a while!😀

Damn we are cousin, all celtics..., I had an old old grand Ma from Munich, an other from Turin Italy; my father spent the first seven years of his life playing on the Maule at Singapour as my grand father worked for the french government in the western aeras ! And this stupid storry is ending with me: unable to speak two words of good English ! (my father as a perfect white western people born in China talked chineese !)... Grand Pa left China for Bresil (with an other woman from Russia, in fact he was married three times, he was a play boy !) : when family showed me all the photographs from this places, I begann (Young) to smoke and experiment with substances ! Music saved me as some girls as well !

Where where you : we spent more than 100 years to fight with the englishs for each square meter because the bad weapon the two sides have : bad couleuvrines, Swords, bows and arbaletts...pfffff and too much wine ! Btw we fight each others only the summers ! (do you know an aera in the world which has more castles than the french (now) Dordogne aera ? Even in Rajhastan they have few !

@ Glassbos777 : yeap, like very much this grup, i'm 46 and it was one of the one I liked when younger ! Too much great bands in Scotland ! I liked as well this little grup : The Silencers : pretty good musicians and a more than honnest two first albums I have fron them ! : a good energy comes from this two albums ! Since, a lot of great bands too !

PS : I'm a great enthusiast about your smoked whyskis from your Islands, but not only : Ah the Spey side !

@Charles D: In general us weegies are pretty warm and friendly but like all creeds and clans of human beings we have a few ********* too, who like to fight over religions they are too stupid to understand.

Yeah, lots of different approaches to mushroom consumption, tea, pizza, cake. I find though that they are much more potent eaten fresh, which admittedly is a bit of a nasty taste to stomach!

@Eldam: I had forgotten about the Silencers, there was also The Blue Nile who wrote another of my favorite songs, Tinseltown in the rain, a song about Glasgow!

http:// https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=WTMyr9x6ZPU

For some reason the link won't work for me but the song is definitely at that URL, you might need to copy and paste.

My favorite Smokey whisky is Talisker from the isle of Skye, the Speyside whiskies are good too.

Gordon.

Excelent the Blue Nile (I believed they were from Belgium !): had the vynils of the two first albums and re buy the cd : Linn record ?!?! ?! .... I now understand Linn is from Scotland as well !

Talisker is not too smokey adn has a good balance.... but I'm found of the more Rock 'n roll Caol Ila (not the same Island)... not the normal one but the single(s) cask(s) (and non filtered one ! at 50° and more ! )

I had not the money for a LP12 on the second hand when I was 18 ! Bought a Rega planar 3 instead on second hand I have yet 🙂 !

Caol Ila is imo more subtil and smoother than a Laphroag... and excellent with 1/4 of good neutral water ! As many alcohool from all around the world.... argh, a bad (for health) legal drug !

Not sure the red wine with all the pesticides is better than the weed ! Dunno...

Btw, I think it's strange than someting which enter by the ears is (can be) more powerfull than a substance which enters by the mouth! Not sure evolution gave a place like that for the ears (I mean in relation to the intense emotion music can give relativly soonly in the human story with complex music arengements...and in relation to what can modificate the perception by eating it (or smoking it) !

Did you heard about some research and a neuronal network in the intestine : it comunicates with the brain not only by the nerves but with like neurones themselves! So what you eat can influence your brain ! Evolution ! It seems what of our primal need whas to eat...not listen sounds even if ears helped to survive ! If sounds, views were inbfluenced by the environments and setuped on which is perciptible by our senses and the environment, we can find strange this ability to create harmony and feel pleasure to listen to it ! It's not like if wee need it like love and social behaviour to survive by being together as a social beast... Does the music is something which is to give or to be feeled alone ? Is it a social darwinism ?

At the time of your 100 Year War we were busy consolidating a political entity known as 'The Holy Roman Empire of German Nation'.
Our nations France and Germany share the same founder as far as I understand: Carolus Magnus (Charlemagne or Karl der Grosse). It appears you have his sword while we have his body! 🙂

Our oldest gunsmith dynasty started in good time for the 30 Year War but too late for the 100 Year one.
400 years later they got their act together and produced the famed 88mm Anti-aircraft gun for the Wehrmacht.

WE didn't know it was mushroom tea at the time.
A mate of mine got posted to Glasgow and the company put him up in a fairly posh apartment block. We left our door open as is tradition I believe but most of the other people were well-to-do pensioners.
At some point this totally straight looking guy walks in with a well-stocked tea tray, biscuits and all. It was a welcome change after all the beers we had and it took a second round before we thought it tasted a bit funny.
So we ventured out to find his flat and eventually found one which looked promising going by all the fetish prints on the walls!
And there he was: In his kitchen with a big pile of 'shrooms making tea.
Turns out he was an engineer on an oil rig and they did rigorous drug tests every time they came on board (?) for a two week shift.
The only drugs which leave no lasting trace in the body are 'shrooms and LSD according to him.
Nice guy and wholly unexpected turn of the night!

Argh ! I want to see Aix la Chapelle since 25 years ! But so manny things to see ! Him and his burrgmeister of the Palace made a good work iirc with the staffs of monks, re-reading and make a huge work on the Justinian code !
Those long end of Midle Age fascinates me (between the Re conquista, the greek phylosph whom came by the arabians of Spain and the beginning of the Italian Renecita at the end of of the XIV);;; all those things gave us the Siecle des Lumières, the English phylosophs about Politic and the first step of futurs révolutions.... Just thinking of it it's like if I am smoking ! (maybe I mixed a little a TV serie with the Dummie book and some "bad food" younger.... !)

I believe "France" made some stupid things at the end of the XVs, because of you Teutons, we pactised with the Muslims from Turquia instead to take again Bysance all together and given up one of our great legacy (and strategic place) because fighting all agains us... just for some families... stupids europeans and roman Popes do I have to talk about the spanishs ! Europe is the story of a fail to see Big while being a miracle to make some nations litle by litle after occident roman empire collapsed ! Remenber Andrinople as well !

Do you imagine if knights would have been Ipods and the Stooges when fighting ! We would have been less than today !:t_ache: (took in "History for Dummies" book ! )... We need Mc Leod frm Scotland, but was busy to keep his head at the right place !

Having good neighbors is always a plus, this guy sounds pretty cool.

Yes psilocybin ( in mushrooms ) and LSD don't show up on the urine drug tests that I expect they'd use on the rigs. There was a scary story going round the net a few years back about guys at Strategic Air Command, the guys that control the nukes in America. They were allegedly taking LSD on shift as the job is mind numbingly boring unless there happens to be a nuclear war!

We need Mc Leod frm Scotland, but was busy to keep his head at the right place !

My ex-brother-in-law was a Mac Leod although not the Mac Leod of Mac Leod.
He is a true Brit: Member of the clan Mac Leod, born in the East Midlands of England, grew up and lives in Wales!

The chief of the clan lives in Dunvegan Castle on the Isle of Skye. Dunvegan is Europe's oldest continuously inhabited castle. The Mac Leods have been there for over 800 years.

The german emperors in middle ages did things rather differently then the english or french kings.
They had no real home land and just spent their time almost constantly travelling throughout the kingdoms and fiefdoms that made up the Holy Roman Empire. The local kings, dukes or princes had to put him up.
His only true subjects were these noble men and all the Frisians (the Frisians didn't have local nobility or feudalism, they were a bit of an oddity like that in mainland Europe.) Also originally the emperor was elected by a dozen or so kings, dukes and bishops, the so-called Prince Electors. They would elect the King of Rome who on the death of his predecessor would become emperor.
The end result of this was that when Napoleon finally dissolved the Holy Roman Empire of German Nation what we know as Germany and Italy fragmented in to a couple of hundred independent states.
Modern Germany was founded in Versailles after the Franco-Prussian War of 1870-71. After a thousand years we, the french and germans, still behave like competing brothers and have a tendency to rub our success into the others face!🙂

I think modern Italy was united by Garibaldi in around 1896 or so.

Damn, good whyskies yet at Isle of Skye !

Yeap I know he travelled a lot (all his life).... BUT, while the boss of the Palace (Burgmeister) (certainly one of the first european reference of what a prime minister was with a separation of the competences (specialisatrion of skill) ruling the money, the laws, the intelecutuals things while the Emperor decides about the strategy (laws, etc) and territories, temporal actions ! A great king than this Charlemagne... unluckilly bad reputation in France because of some stupid songs about pants, schools, etc !

In fact I you look at with a close eyes to trhe hystories of the tribes, the populations movements since the antics and the Roman Empire in ours "countries (aera) " , I'm not sure Charlemagne was an exception : many before and after were on the road (again) ... always figthing and 'visit" the territories to try to make unity with the local masters ! ... Very rock'n roll !

Btw : what a ********** than Napoleon ! I can't understand why so many people are in admiration about him ! He just empty the Europe of the youngest men with stupid wars.... I'm ashame to be french when I'm thinking about him, certainly as much as could be a german when thinking to Hitler ! Same human sheet !.

I can't forgett what the debt we have from Italies (the city states you spoke) with the modern Renaissance... There was something like the beginning of an interrogation about the human being on him destiny (providencia... look at the iconography of this times !) and how he could drive it while being the master of him hystory !
