Quite right, I didn't think it would be taken any other way. What was I smoking? 😀
So it was that. Well, yes and no. Sometimes it turns you into a savage, a wild beast. No refinement there. Other times my natural sophistication doesn't get drowned under the effect of drugs, on the contrary it gets more acute. I raise and raise and look down at ordinary human appetites and feel above all that nonsense, no ball and chain for me thanks. I laugh and laugh with godlike powers. So a god or a beast, what's going to be tonight. Who knows.
There's so much more where that came from. Try "Green" and "Motivation Radio". Green is another concept album. Motivation Radio is a "normal" grouping of songs. (Insert long pause.) Then you can follow the trail back to Gong (Hillage on guitar). Daevid Allen's Gong has at its core a trilogy, "Flying Teapot", "Angel's Egg", and "You". Pierre Moerlein's Gong is a different vibe, more fusion/percussion. "Downwind" is good. Before you do that, though, I'd do Steve Hackett"s "Voyage of the Acolyte" and "Please Don't Touch". And before that I would seriously soak myself in "Lamb Lies Down On Broadway", but you've probably done that already. Haven't received my Rudgren and Polytown discs. Might show up today. Thanks! Wake and bake, kiddies! (Have to try and keep on topic, ya'know.
The vast majority of lasting music was written or recorded under the influence of some drug.
That includes classical music. Back then tea and coffee were too expensive and water too dangerous so they covered all their daily fluid needs with wine, beer or spirits.
And there were always certain mushrooms available.
Imagine Mozart on 'shrooms! 😀
I've read that whole villages would go crazy because of moldy stacks of rye grain would produce naturally occurring LSD. If they only had Jefferson Airplane, they probably would have had a better time.
Certainly the Beatles benefited from something, acid seems plausible.
Well, we do have a strong clue.

Nah, Lucy was just a fridge picture that one of the kids (Julian?) drew. The LSD connection was another rumor like "Paul is dead."

It is so hilarious about artists not admitting what inspired them, drugs or otherwise. It is like the secret sauce/recipe. People are so judgmental and why would any artist admit anything, if people cast/mold/judge them based on societies morality. People dream it up on there own, no need to admit anything. It is like shooting ones foot.
I watched a doc on Rock Hudson the other day, that about sums up the public, in wanting to hide, to make public announcments about their life style ,preferences, inspiration etc.

I was in the local (big box) book store on Friday evening with my daughter. We had ordered some take-out sushi and had some time to burn. While in the "Philosophy/Eastern Religion/Social Commentary/New Age/Tarot Card" section (hilarious how they lump all this stuff together) I happened to notice a book entitled "Acid Test: LSD, Ecstasy, and the Power to Heal" by Tom Shroder. The liner notes intrigued me, but I wasn't "turned on" by the $27 price tag.
I took a photo of the cover with my phone and set it back on the shelf. As I did, I saw a lonely copy of "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance" by Pirsig. I've read it at least twice before, but I lost (read: "lent") my copy over a decade ago and I have been intending to get another. So I bought it. I'm on chapter 7 already and it is proving to be just as enjoyable and thought-provoking as it was before.
I majored in Philosophy in University and for quite some time I have lost sight of the perspective that this type of thought and discourse affords. I find that drugs, including but not limited to pot, can help more than hinder, and music often ties it all together for me.
I still have a hit of clinical blotter in a box of old memories in the basement. Some day, after months of filling my head full of grand ideas and preparation of set and setting, I will take that hit. I haven't felt the need in a long, long time, but something is brewing in my soul. Something I need to get worked out.

I've read about this but I don't know what to think of it.
I did a bit of LSD, in the day, but one thing I remember or learnt, it was no fun doing it on your own. Actually we frowned on it, esp for first timers. i would think that your hit is stale and does not have the potency anymore but i am no expert. only one way to know for sure = try 🙂I will take that hit.
I have a friend who swears that the gov purposely does not want to legalize pot, so that people do not wise up to what they are doing to all of us 🙂 They want to keep their people/subjects as sheep, bah, brown bag charlies, as my late dad called us 9-5'ers. = go to work, pay your taxes and drink our booze ,so that you do not think outside the box. It seems to be working quite well, why would the gov want to change anything? It is compassion vs agenda, we see who is winning this battle.
We had a good laugh the other day on the news, that "shatter" is hitting the streets in Canada. They media/police, made it sounds so dangerous, like it is new. What a bunch of aholes. Like honey oil is new. All they have done is come up with new names to sell and scare people. Then I read in a skunk mag that they are holding courses in Colorado showing/selling a home lab to make the stuff for public sale. How to do it green wise and re-cycle the n-butane and mostly prevent people from blowing themselves up.

"Back in the day" I researched how to store it. I am pretty confident that it'll be OK, especially since only 1/4 hit was required when it was fresh. 🙂
I'll either split the hit with a friend, or convince the friend to be my "sitter". I do have a couple grams of shrooms in that box, too, so there's another option.

Trying to find a way to combat ergot poisoning was how Albert Hofmann discovered LSD in 1938.
