When I browsed the web I found a bipolar class A opamp design by Walt Jung the old opamp guru, has anybody tried this discrete opamp audio buffer I will search the schematics and post it when I found it.
The design is made up from very few parts and looks very good with low distorsion and so on.

The Class A Preamp schematic
Here it is the Class A preamp schematic http://www.elecdesign.com/1998/oct0198/tt/1001tt.shtml

This buffer design works as good as Mr Jung says. I have tried it myself.
You write "preamp" it's a buffer with gain of 1 if you didn't notice that.

Buffer
Yes I noticed that but I will see any class A designs that is good for high end audio I have tried it in multisim and it works.😉
I think that the most good preamps buffers is jfet designs do you have any idéa of a bipolar simple high end line preamp and buffer
designs BTW I will buy a power supply pcb of your design.🙂

Erno amps
Yes too much parts I think it should be very few parts in a high end preamp.
Like the JC-2 clone wich I have run for almost 15 years it is very good but it must be some better designs now.
I also like the low output impedance possibilities.😎

You can try to click "www" button at the bottom of this thread, I have an Audio Buffer on my web page.
I've built this buffer. It works very well; sounds good too. Iused different transistors and adjusted the bias currents a bit.

JC-2 schematic can be found here if anybody's interested.

Walt Jung old?

I don't think that he's old, but maybe your reference
point is different. But he definitely could be considered
an op-amp guru.

Being old is part of being a guru.
Young gurus don't have the verisimilitude to be be
properly appreciated.

JC-2
Nelson Pass I agree about the JC-2 how can we tune it up ? make a better output low impedance driving capablility and so on come on amateurs take this challenge.😎

Can you e-mail back to me?
There are certain things I would like to ask you.
Thanks!

Re: JC-2
leiade:
Why not ask Mr. Curl himself on the tweaker's board:

Speaking of Walt Jung
there are several of his op-amp articles archived on Analog Devices website. www.analog.com

JC-2 circuit or better
Hi Mlloyd1,
Some time ago I had a discussion on the AudioAsylum about improved circuits for the JC-2 amplifier. Of course John Curl did not agree.😉

You bet
Hi,
Should I ask who... the second old guru in the analog design no no he has enough,
I just asked the amateurs in the audio world to take challenge in the analog audio discrete op amp design contest. :Olympic

Re: JC-2 circuit or better
Hi Elso:
Yes, I remember those exchanges 😀 I haven't seen many postings by John there lately. Of course, I spend most of my time here anyways😎

Buffers and preamps
I thought that this forum was like an "idéas corner" where people is nice and decent why sholud I ask John Curl ?? I think he design electronics for his living but... I aslo think he is out on different forums just to collect information about trends in this very hot field.
