Looking for an affordable sheilded driver for home theater that is available in both 4 ohm version as well as 8 ohm

Is your plan MTM for L, R fronts & MT for rears? and you'd like to keep to 4 ohms (Ms paralleled) or 8 ohms (Ms series)?

I know the response graph isnt pretty, but that doesnt always mean a speaker sounds bad.

Yes this is VERY true, but here with the stiff cone, the early break up & the early roll-off off axis, things don't look really good for it having a sweet midrange response.

Milzie,

did you end up using the Vifa MG driver and if so what were your thoughts on it?

Planet10,

I can't see why you say that the response is ugly? To me it looks quite flat!

It has a narrow dip just above 1khz of 2db, pretty minor. Then above that dip the response is up about 2db before its upper rolloff.

I would consider a response like that one that doesn't need any eq at all. How many drivers are smoother than this? (yes I know the Vifa P13 is smoother, yet it has early rolloff.

Perhaps I am mistaken ...

What about the Vifa MG14?

Above about 1.5khz the response drops down a little, and I wonder if this could be a good thing given the sensitivity of the ear in this range. This would result in a more laid back sound I imagine, and give less listening fatigue ... any thoughts?

regards,
Paul
