First sketch with SketchUp (only STL export possibilities!).
What´s the 5mm Hole in middle of the front plate?
Text milling required?
JP
JP, looking very good!
Thanks also
The 5mm hole is for the 5mm blue LED in the front. No text milling required, keeping it an universal front panel
A small update, almost ready VFET-X Amplifier.
Frontpanels arrived from China. They look pretty good. 25mm Aluminum, weights around 9KG
Now I really have to ask my son to help me lift this thing
Also made a nice basket to illuminate the VFET. I have been experimenting extensively with plexiglass to get a consistent illumination which is not too bright. In the middle of the plexiglass there is a nice blue color without the triangles of the LED's. Because the LED's are shining horizontally there is no VFET projected on my ceiling
I made it from 18mm MDF with a router, so I have an exact 10mm depth for the plexiglass. The whole basket is glued to the black powder coated aluminum top cover.
So if the glue is letting go the basket in time, I'm glad I made it from wood, not making fireworks inside the amp

WalterW,
Case looks good, and nice effect with the LED lighting.
ZM always trying to make something new!

I'm still seeing 2N3055 everywhere ........
hahaha, yeah... I still have enough VFET's but not 8 matching pairs to build another VFET-X
Thanks!
Vdi_nenna: it sounds terrific. Big soundstage, good control of my woofers, strong bass, very, very crisp, detailed natural highs. It sounds fast, percussion seems to go faster, don't know how to explain. It has a bit of the F5Tv3, but not clinical, but more natural.
Very good amplifier, I have not discovered con's yet only pro's.
So in three words: Dynamic, Natural and Fast.
I can understand why Yamaha called their VFET amps: "Natural sound amplifiers"
Oh, I listen to it with no global feedback. I can switch in some, but I like it better without feedback.
