The stupidity of this escapes me, except that the numbers don't really translate into sound quality.

well, still trying to get some card (used and external will be great, so can user with with my laptop)
need to get it from someone located in USA. emu 0404 impossible to get :/ others new looks expensive!
Looks like UAC-2 is the only that can get but are 250USD :/

Hey samsagaz, I have been looking at alternatives for ages and nothing beats the EMU0404 for price/value. The next alternatives require much more money. or the QA interfaces for measurement. The other Creative and Xonar stuff are not as good.
