Hi all,

i will send all the order kit this two weeks.

the first 5 ets I send already with s/n

Calabrese RA08987420hk.
Martinez RA089874268hk.
Riccardo RA089874245hk.
Axinia RA089874271hk.
kepper RA 089874254hk.

the remain one will continous send this week early next week.
Actually I can send the kit last week but the OPA 627 not arrived. Now until today, 627 still not arrived, so I post the kit with the ad797 which I prepare use in ver.3. more balace than 627. hope U will lke them.

I was testing the Fet output stage, any suggestion????

the first image was use the Fet optput stage with buffer was quite good.

I was testin them in I/V & buffer stage.

testin model was 2Sk170, 389 , IRF610, IRFD9110 & 1110.

thx

Ultimate Twin TDA1541a Non-oversampling DAC with tube buffer & reclock set...........

hi anthony,

i check already but looks not had the chassis payment.

For all the diyers that still not received my kit. will post this coming week for 5 sets.
The chips dealer told me that the chips will arrived my hand on tuesday. It means I had both AD797 & OPA627 on hand, pls let me know which one U love. I can give U a choice.

Pls let me know which op-amp U like!!!!!!!!

one of the diyers was compare the nano amorphous & the audionote silver wire with permalloy core.

result will coming soon.

But.........I assume the result was same performance.
Audionote was famous brand. It need paid more money. But..... my nano was standard in every dac & free for my dac diyers.

thx

thomas

This is my new DAC also based on Thomas's kit. My old DAC has been taken over by my friend. This one sounds even better due to further mods as follows:

Auricap output coupling cap
Philips holland ECC88

analog filter caps are TRW polystyrene
Pure silver wiring

Photo taken before the last 2 mods

The reclock board stand up at the far side. This use the new TCXO 1.25ppm from Thomas. The 74HC74 board sounds better to me than the 74hc4040.

Thomas, for the small 0.1uF caps in the DAC board I like the Orange caps better than the Panasonic.

Elso,

This one supposes to be a good clock source, doesn't it?

http://www.iclock-net.de/e_iclock.htm

The speccifications include:

"Oscillator type: TCXO, temprature compensated crystal oscillator, burned-in and pre-aged

Clock accuracy (shipped): <±0.1ppm "

And next to that I see:

"Clock jitter: <6ps (p-p), <1ps (RMS), measure bandwidth: 20.0 Hz – 100.0 kHz"

There seem to be some relationship between the "ppm" and "ps"?

I finally had some time to finish building my DAC. Here is a picture of my DAC on top of my CD player.

Since I had some noise issues with the original tube buffer I built another tube buffer using e810f/7788 (in triode mode) or 6s45p tubes (jumper selectable). It includes cascoded bjt anode CCS (using green leds) and sinc-filter. It is currently running e810f/7788 which have a bit more gain than 6s45p and also the quality is more consistent. The 6s45p tubes seem to vary a lot. The anode CCS was a major improvement over resistor and I found the single triode stage with anode CCS much better than the SRPP using ECC88s.

I also tried several other I/V setups including folded cascode and diamond buffer. I prefer the tube buffer but the differences are very small. I also tried the reclocker but I could not hear any major improvement. I ruined one CS8414 in the process and thus decided to leave the reclocker out for the moment.

The power supply is also somewhat different from the original. I am using AC heaters. The HV supply has a CLCRC setup.

I would like to try the new pulse transformers but I have not received them yet. Thomas, have you already sent me those?

I did all my listening tests using a home-built all-triode Stax amp running Stax Lambdas. I think I may have reached the resolution limits of that setup so my results are far from conclusive. Next I'm planning to start tweaking the Stax amp!

Hi, very very bad news. Todays I received over ten letters of the posted pulse trans.

one of member in australia also had this experience.

Hi Thomas,

2 x xfmr arrived today via air mail, in an envelope.

The envelope appears to have been opened, and re-sealed, but the xfmrs are in there, and all ok.

Curiously, this was not registered.. and I am wondering if this is the FIRST lot that you sent me.

The date on the stamp is 1/3/06, which could be 1st March, if so then ok.

This date was the first letter return & I fillthe detail form to post office about the arts contain & resend to Australia.
May be the second letter still had this problem.

Or, it could be 3/1/06 (which date system do you use in HK?), in which case it is the first pair (two months via air mail !!), and then two more via registered mail that are yet to arrive.

regards,
shane

I was using another small box to repack & post again.

thx

thomas

Hi quantran,
The jitter spec seems to me OK, but I remember they first specked 100ps jitter. How come????
I don't see a relationship between ppm and ps
