Ultimate Twin TDA1541a Non-oversampling DAC with tube buffer & reclock set...........

Hi quantran,

I did not remember that your questions is reply or not because too many questions. If U did not collect the reply, would U care email to me once again?

The sound was strong contrast in high freq area.

Nos dac will alittle bit of soft in HF area. But this MKL had a very fast sound. The HF heard more strong detail. but the LF was a little weak.

may be more time for run in will better. This is the first image that I supply for diyer to reference.

thx

How many regulators?

Are there separate regulators for the cs8412 and tda1541A's?

Assuming separate regs for DIR and DAC, is the digital power and analog power of the CS8412 served by separate or the same regulator(s)? If so, would this be the LT1033/1057 reg parts throughout for DIR and DAC?

Thanks,
Mike

Hi quantran,

Does you dac use passive I/V conversion with the tube buffer board as a pure tube outputsage😕 Thomas' kit seems very flexible in terms of mods. Maybe even the use of plate-chokes for the 6922's could improve performance. Thanks.

fred

Hi fred76

Yes, I use passive I/V 2x68R in parallel for each channel. I guess most (if not all) tube DACs use passive I/V.

I have not used plate chokes for my DAC yet. I think it may give more benefits to the 6c45pi option.

I use a pair of Dario Miniwatt ECC189 now in place of the 6dj8. Most people say these are not good for audio due to variable Mu. However in this case they sound better than a pair of Sylvania 6922.

I removed the cathod cap for 6922/6dj8 tubes. In think it sound better this way. All electrolytic caps are disasters. The HF filter caps (C23, C24, C42, C48) are also extremely important to the sound. I recommend you to upgrade these caps with the best one you can buy. They are just 1nF so not expensive.

Hi quantran,

Thank you for the info. Since the tube is high gm and highish in mu, removing the cathode caps is not a big issue I guess (changes in R values?). I don't have a manual or have ordered the kit yet since I'm waiting for Diyhifisupply's version (Thomas' kit as base) to come out and see what suits me best. Do you know where I can download the manual of Thomas' kit if it is posted online? Thanks again.

Ultimate Twin TDA1541a Non-oversampling DAC with tube buffer & reclock set...........

Hi quantran & fred76,

sorry to long time not to meet.

My grandmother was dead & I was busy for her after procedure.

Secondary was I will produce for the best OPT. Ni-FE-B base Nanocrystalline Alloy Amorphous OPT.

As fred76 said, my DAC will flexable for different. so I prepare produce 150H 10ma (parallel), 600H ( 5ma ) Series for plate & grid choke.

Pls visit my forum for detail.

The price will very good. I will offer Oversea user 90days money back for this products.

This OPT was use 28pcs of litz 5N copper wire to wire. excellent core. price was funish in China ( Japan factory ) but request by me use 0.06mm natural fibre paper for layer & UK bee Wax.

Price will 40% of TamuXX amorphous OPT only. And 90 days money back.

quantran, I was so busy for R & D this product, can U help me to test f
the MKL caps??

if yes, pls give me your address & U only need to pay posatge only. Hope U can test a detail report for diyers!!!

Dear anthony,

the chassis will had 70 pcs arrived my hand this week. But I did not know the DAC one will include or not. If yes, I will immediately post full set to U include the chasis. I need to weight the total weight & told U the different for the postage. The price of the chassis will go to U.

Re: Ultimate Twin TDA1541a Non-oversampling DAC with tube buffer & reclock set...........

Hi Thomas

Do you have any 6c45pi to sell? If yes, I would buy a pair so you can send me those MKL caps at the same time.

If you have 6c45pi please pm me the price.

Regarding the high frequency lacking you mentioned before, you can try to strip off the outer jacket of the cable to connect the board and the RCA socket. To my ears this will improve the top end significantly. This apply to both ATM cable and the silver one. The silver cable has very tight bottom end. I prefer the ATM cable.

Cheers

Ultimate Twin TDA1541a Non-oversampling DAC with tube buffer & reclock set...........

Dear quantran,

pls email to me for detail.

Hi shane,

I send email to U several time but the server return back.
do U had another email address.

For all, all coming DAC buyer will add one pcs of HQ EI 0~9V 2A filamnet power trans free of charge.
For tube use 0~9V then diode rectifier, pass 1085 to regular is much better than 0~6.3 pass diode rectifier, pass 1085 to regular, thanks for suggest for this improvement.

thx

Hi Thomas,

Thanks for continuing to publish additional upgrades/changes to the DAC - this is really helpful.

One suggestion for you on these updates:
I struggle with your English sometimes, and don't fully understand the some of the things you suggest. For some of these changes, could you accompany the suggestions with a simple diagram?

Then your notes I am sure would mean more to me!

Maybe though, you already have a place on your web-site for these things? If so where do we find it?

I also saw you mentioned a "user manual" on your site for the old version, but I could never find it? Could you either give me a link or send me a copy via email please.

Kind regards,

Jonathan

Ultimate Twin TDA1541a Non-oversampling DAC with tube buffer & reclock set...........

Hi Jonathan,

sorry to late call back.

My english is bad so cannot actually reflex the meaning of the dac.

Pls check email for the zip file of the schmatic.

this is my website.

www.diyaudiocraft.com.

Actually the old version & the new version schmatic was same. But the parts & signal path was re0write the PCB to lower the capacitance, noise & shorter signal path to maintain the purity of the signal.

thx
