Sherman, you can use the E88CC/6922 as a direct plug-in replacement for the 6N1P with no mods. At least, it's still going strong myways 😀

I was wondering if you changed the voltage to the plate when you put in the E88CC.
Thinking about it again I suppose the max allowable voltage on the 6922 is higher than the voltage on the plate using Mikael's schematic. (I'm going to double-check the data sheet and then I think I'll plug in those 6922s I have on the shelf! 😀 )
Ok, thanks to all for your great help to me!!
I never thinked this thread could became so big, with so many posts.
Thanks again!
I found a good schematic (IMO) on the net, here it is:
Schematic
As far as I know, it is taken from the most famous electronic DIY italian magazine (I found it on an italian web site, I'm not sure they could publish it, so I will not write the name of the magazine).
It looks good, I have few feedbacks from other people here in Italy that built it, and they say it sounds wonderfully.
What do you think?
I like it because it is UL (distributed load...) and has a local feedback on the secondary, that should help to reduce distorsion (you should be able, in this way, to eliminate distorsion introduced by the transforme, isn't it?).
Ciao,
Giovanni
