FET Matching

Just a thought before the Reichelt UK Order list closes at midnight:

Some of us have ordered FETs (various quantities), but we still haven't nailed down how we are going to match them.

I saw, on another thread, a link to a company in the Netherlands that sells matched FETs. Perhaps this could be the way to go??

Any suggestions, or should we all buy loads extra from Reichelt and sort out the matching later on??

I am half tempted to modify my initial idea and go for a smaller output to begin with and then ramp up the output at a later date.....:hot:

Hi,

I would prefer to buy matched fets only, I dont think I could afford to buy more than I need to get matched ones.

Is anyone getting IRF9610s from the Reichelt UK Order, they are cheaper that at RS. These also have to be matched, dont they?

I have (almost) free IRF9610

I have 50 of these and need them matched to build my own amplifiers.

Anybody who can do a good job of the matching is welcome to share with me - Your time for my FET's.

I have already matched using my component analyser, but the job needs re-doing at the correct bias current.

Yep, I had spotted that one, and if there are a few of us getting them from there, it may be worth sending them all to one person and having them match them up before sending out pairs to everyone else. If people are happy to wait untill after my exams are over for the year (last one on Saturday! the 8th of May) I shouldbe bale to sort out something with regrads to matching them into groups of two's fours and eights.

Oh, and if anyone wants any parts for the bridge rectifier PCB's I put together, I have set up another WIKI page for this here.

OK does anyone know what is happening with the group orders for the IRFP044N?

I put my name down for 32 on the UK Reichelt wiki which has now closed.

Now looking at the US order I could get more fets for cheaper than the Reichelt order.

So are we sticking with the Reichelt order or can we change to the US one?

Sorry jonclancy but I am going to go with the US order instead.

With the Reichelt order it will cost £40.12 for 50 fets

With the US order it will cost £23.78 (with out VAT etc).

I will remove my IRFP044 order from the UK wiki after i post this.

Hi Mark,

no problems. I have heard from Mikelm and Rarkov, so the list is now confirmed one way or t'other.

Orders will be calculated and forwarded to Andypairo today. Expect an email with payment details early this evening. Unfortunately, I've got to go to work today - too much on to have a day off.. 🙄

I have just been looking at the resistors for building my Aleph-X. Initialy, I was looking about for some of those little pink dale ones that people here seem so fond of. However, I then realised that these were only 1% tollerance, and I wasn't too sure if I wanted 0.1% so I had a look about for those and found the cheepest ones to be about 25p each (pluss vat) whcih would have worked out about £40 for the 120 or so resisotrs for all four boards I have.

So, I have finaly decided to simply get some larger numbers of 1% tollerance resisotrs and see if I can 'borrow' a very accurate DMM and match them up for myself (this should cost me about £20 for a hundred or so of each of 10-12 types used on the board, not including the power resistors).

What I was wondering, is if anyone else out there had any better ideas as to where I could get some nice resistors for this project from (but without spending too much money)

Try ebay...Dales are sometimes available.

audioXpress had an aritcle on a very accurate ohms meter - come to think of it, it may have been Everyday Practical Electronics. Basically it was a very stable reference voltage, a precision comparator and a precision resistance switch box.

£40 doesn't seem bad to me for 4 boards worth of passive components. You pay that or double for simple xovers for your speakers...

passive compents

Hi I am really interested in getting all the passive components,
small caps resistors & diodes.....everything except transistors...
for 4xboards

Is somebody going to take this on??................so far I have done
heatsinks,caps and will be doing trannys.....!!!

Bigparsnip has also been very industious..........

So we need a volenteer......!!!

I'm sure some good savings could be made...........

I think it is essential to use very close resistors .... 0.1%

Count me in for group buys..................

Caps!

Capacitors are in uk!!!..........going through customs..........
will let you know when I get them!

I will then email out requestes for payment............when I've checked order.............probably early next week
