Is the software available with its instructions on how to program using the USB port?
Thanks

Amazing stuff! Congratulations.
Alas, it's pretty obvious though that there's no hope of me doing this type
of intricate soldering. 🙁

Hi SB,
Beta version 1.2 of the firmware with instructions are located toward the end of this post:
UGS - Muse edition - 30058092 - sur le forum Amplis et Préamplis - 1056 - du site Homecinema-fr.com

Hi Denis,
Neither Alex or I have access to such fancy professional equipments - yet we managed without (check Alex's post on the HCFR forum right after the "firmware" post.
So despite it may seem "intricate", it is not that in reality. 😉
Hi Eric,
I never did get an answer on the availability and/or schematic of the buffer PCB....any news ?

Yes Eric is perfectly right.
No need for this expensive soldering bench.
It is like the hammer to kill a fly 😉😀
It will do the job well for sure but a good soldering iron + a good hot air soldering station (this is in my opinion the only thing really mandatory) and you can do the same job.
All the rest is nice to have but not mandatory at all, don't be afraid 🙂
I mounted already many PCB and never failed on any, not any single short cut and not need for a USB microscope as well. In case of doubt just a photo with an smartphone for example, you zoom on it and you see the soldering quality.

Hi CeeVee, yes this is normal as this is not included in the GB and just added later on. You will see that it has disappeared now BTW.
As I explained, I recommend that you go with a single module or a dual one setting one UGS to gain = 1.
If in the future we do a buffer GB, I will let you know 🙂
Not on my side.
Remark: this is a nice to have optional item. I feel Alex would love to get some feedback with working UGS muse edition from other users before talking upgrade.
Exactly. For example if you remember well I added the option of the second module as a bonus not equipped initially but there "in case".
This is also why the Kit 1 is coming only with one UGS module per preamp, second module being optional and shorted with jumpers.
You already have in hands a lot to play with 🙂

...I know...i have the original version as my ref preamp....remember.....but the buffer might make a diference because of the muse....don't know.
So when testing after the build ....that is the time to decide if it is needed or not.
😎
Yes with all these kits sent out in the nature, I would appreciate to hear from all of you.
I did not see any of them built and singing 🙂.
Later on we will still have the time to do another buffer GB if needed.

Hi all 🙂
Sorry if I scared people with my posting, regarding the soldering of this pre-amp. That was NOT my intension. 🙁 I was only showing how I am doing it. Yes, I am fortunate to have all this equipment at my workplace, so it makes things easier. 🙂
Well, you really dont need all of this equipment ,you can do it with a good soldering station which have hot air.
I have done most of the soldering by hand, the IR-owen was only used on some parts.
I am getting old, so my eyes are not as they used to be. Thats why I am using some types of magnefying, when I´m soldering.
Try, and you will figure it out, what your needs are 🙂

No....it didn't scare ...me at least, rather inspired to always work to the level this forum sets.
You pictures remind me of Tiroler, all here should see his work on his picture albums.
perfection!
Yes he has access to equipment like yours or better but it's the person behind the equipment that counts.
Actually i recomend all to look up his UGS ( the original one here ) in the forum and follow the album link.
Inspiring is all i can say,....as is your work.
Can't wait to see your final product.
Me, i just happened to recieve an Amscope the day you posted your pictures so i got all busy after seeing them....building a working area for it to solder my control PCBs 😀

So whenever I start building the UGS I'll know who to call for help with those "nice" SMD IC's!!

I'm curious which Amscope did you acquire?
I found an old SMD practice kit (from 41Hz amp way back when) over
the weekend and did a few 0805. Pretty stressful on the neck and eyes. 🙂
Ordered a couple of practice kits from ebay. Hopefully will slowly work up
the skills...

Hi,
I am using a Olympus SZ 51 Scope. A very helpful thing when doing the solderings 🙂
Johnny
Looks similar to mine
Here is my specific model.
