UGS adventures

Manu,

a length of rectangular nylon bar reduces friction/wear of the buitoni, plus minimal tolerances.
Merely requires drilling the holies in 3 diameters of different depth.
(drill bit with a broken-off tip to flatten out the bottom of the holes)

Thx
Seems faisable, even for me...
I have already metall drill bits with flat ends ... they will fit perfectly ...
hehe .. no need to wait till I broke a bit inadvertently, as usual :D

Just one last question/confirmation : the spring goes through the 8mm hole to meet the inner side of the knob, right?

Yes.

La guerre de III n'aura donc pas lieu :D
Sorry... :ashamed:

So far, first UGS from Greece. And what a beautiful beast !
Congrats, III. That's a very nice piece of work and the full expression of ingenious DIY.
I admire the way you managed to make all on your own, electronics and casing (very very nice).

I just hope you enjoy the result ;)

Kudos once more

Et une spéziale Manu : Comme disait Vénus à Milo, les bras m'en tombent.

...for the galery, from the promised foto session!

Finally got everything working;

Orion ASP - with temporary front panel.
UGS - sans front plate and testing the display 1.
Shanling - waiting for my own transport....another thread in these pages.
ATI 6012 - 8x Orion amps....with 4 spare.

the sound is amazing !
:D

Thanks to Nelson Pass, François, Vmoreau for the GB and SL for the sharp end !

....now to spend some time with my CNC to make the front panels with the care such a system deserves.

At the vienna opera archives they have an amazing collection of overhelming records (and notes) of most of the famous musical shows (concert, opera) ever ...
I am there once a week ...

They are not joking when they say that PL products are the only ones they trust.

Since I can not complain about, I am just asking me how far are our silly PL-clones from genuine ones?

Manu
Thanks Nelson, for all...

The best way to put it is that your silly PL-clone is far superior to most high end audio product.

Many years ago Mr.Pass (in my humble opinion) produced a diy design that gave his commercial offerings a run for their money.

Today the situation might be slightly different, but the design comes from the same stable and you owe it to yourself to check out some of Mr.Pass's current product, it is some of the best audio gear made regardless of price.

I hear that a Pass Lab amp is going to get a review in the next issue of The Absolute sound, might be worth a read.

Jam

P.S. Anyway, some people say this is all way better than sex.............:D

As I said I can not complain ... just that I never had the opportunity to hear a real PL one...

But even with my silly A5 together with Cheffs UGS :
Solti's Verdi's Requiem (dies irae)
or Monteverdi's Orfeo (cathy Berberian)
you think you reached the truth...

Sorry for being pathetic,
but its nice

Manu
