One question..
Is it safe to use 200v Vds (like IRFP250) MOSFETs with +/-100v supplies in this circuit (the first 1250W into 4R one)..
Ok..
Nobody will answer I guess..
Anyway, so whats the safe supply margin for Vds=200v MOSFETs? For example is +/-90v ok?
The answer si NO...it is not safe...i would use a maximum of +-80 . For +-110 volt use 250 volt mosfets.
Thanks CPX.. This info will be very usefull for me..
Just one last question...
Whats the Ids margin for MOSFETs in this application?
Means;
Can I use 34A Ids (DC) MOSFET for 1000W/2R application (32A peak at load)?

Hello everyone
i have made irs 900d and scaleable philips ucd amp which its schematic was written in spanish. irs 900 was good but the other one is not stable at 60 volts per rail and ir21100 warms up to 70 degrees.
I wonder if anyone of you could give me another circuits using irfp250 and ir2110 to achieve 400 watts @ 4 ohms that being tested .
I count on your recommendation so i'll wait for your recommended circuits.
regards.

Hi nn20
greetings try irs 3000 its tested detex audio has redesigned pcb has ocp which really works well option to add another pair of fets for more power pcb is compact and
its tested TRY IT

that's IGBT is too slow 😉 max 40kHz in hard switching![]()
hi pergo if the igbt is slow like 40khz then what power is it producing in the below yamaha power amp smps

in that circuit, the SG3525 seems timed by 470p/50k (low image resolution doesn't help).
So switching frequency seems 60kHz.
Datasheet says that, for hard switching like half-bridge smps, 40kHz is the recommended frequency.
If you use those IGBT in a smps at those "low" frequency, they are fine.
If you use is for class D output stage, they are unsuitable 😀

Hi Mr Lebon . thanks for your recommendation.
could you post the PCB for me to be sure that it's the correct one.
is it possible to run it @ 60 volts per voltage rail?
what changes are neeeded ? (e.g RSS resistor value & ...)
thanks alot ...

if they are using such low freq why is the output capacitors at 560uf only and they are using two pairs? and not large banks like 6800uf
what is the wattage of this smps?
there are 2x560uF per rail, so 1120uF total per rail @200V
They store the same energy of a 4480uF per rail @50V. Not bad for 40kHz.
The frequency is set by RC of SG3525 (see datasheet for the formula).

PCB is on POST 2646 its correct no changes needed if IRFP250N is being used
change gate resistors to 100 ohms follow irs 1500 component layout see the
small jumper near 10K preset its a easy amp to make just use T157-2 CORE
and you wont have issues building this amp and no regrets

🙂thanks pergo. so the smps produces 1.2kwts or less?😕
>>>>and irfp460 fets are they superior compared to IRG4PC50U in smps , because irfp460 can run with 100khz?😕

do you have the irs 1500 pcb . since irs1500 is the same as 3000 , can i use 1500 instead?
hi michelle veryvery cool 😎😎 in that video which fets are being used at that voltage, and does it have a working overcurrent protect ?
i wanted to try out irs3000d with irfp260n with +/-90vlts what gate resistor value do i have to put?
Hi Stewin
greetings 90N20 FETS are being used at 93 volts dc+/-
for irf260n 100 ohms stewin please try to get proper core for pro RESULT and the smps is tough dc rails shorted pri fuse blows its our first step in smps higher power still to come
warm regards

Hi NN20
greetings not much difference in irs1500 pcb i reccomend irs3000 pcb layout
because i have made it and @2 ohms load very little heat
