Cheers, thanks for the clarification.
I've just noticed that the Ballsie Lite is up for sale. What benefit would this module give me over using the audio + out and gnd that I currently use for SE, on my B32S?

Sounds to me like a perfect "compromise" between the two!!!Is this in reference to the tweakers board, or to a new version of the 'standard' B32S board?
Way to go😀

make less remote the possibility of a tube output stage ...and the fun will be endless !!

Russ and Brian,
Why are there two Ballsie Lite kits which only differ in the op-amps used? Have I missed something?
Thanks,
Nic

You can use a lot of different opamps in the circuit (DIP8 or SOIC). I just happen to have a bunch of both, so though I would offer a choice.
Hi Brian and Russ,
Slightly off-topic, would you recommend a direct connection from the 32s (with volumite) to the impen... upcoming Sympatico, or should we add a good preamp in between?
Oh, and can you please provide additional information regarding the Sympatico? I'm really looking forward to the new round of Sympaticos, and would probably buy one anyway, but it's always nice to have more reasons to drool over it.

I would wholeheartedly suggest that you go direct to Sympatico. You will get the best possible dynamic range and lowest distortion this way.
I am not sure what you would like to know about the Sympatico. 🙂

Thank you. I'll definitely remember to order a Volumite along with the Sympatico.
Well, just more details, either subjective or objective. Anything from
"Fully symmetric, balanced operation
Ultra-low noise floor (perfect for high efficiency loudspeakers)"
to
"A jaw-dropping reference level chip amp" would do!

Question: I would like to use a Buffalo 32S with separate Placid regulators for each analog output stage (including separate transformers). How feasible is this, and how would I need to modify the Buffalo board to accomplish this?
Did you even look at the website? The Buffalo 32 has separate analogue voltage input blocks for each channel. So just hook a Placid up to each channel.
Has anyone already upgraded the powersupplies of their Buffalo32s from LCBPS to Placid and what are the results?

I did the upgrade. I got dual mono Placid BPs for analog and Placid for digital. However, I only had one LCBPS for anaog and a LCDPS for digital earlier, so I can't be sure, which makes most of the difference, the Placid or the dual mono configuration.
I found was that there is more bass and the bass is more refined, compared to LCBPS. There is simply more punch and body in the sound. That could be was easily heard right away. What comes to mids and highs, the difference between slow and fast roll-off is more clear, in benefit of fast roll-off. I used to like the slow roll-off more with LCxPS.
I would not say the difference is like between night and day, but was it worth it? Definately. If I bought B32s now, I would not think twice to buy it with Placids instead of LCxPS.

dac redesign
Russ / Brian,
I just came back to audio after about 6 months break and I'm thinking about bufallo 32 and I see you redesigning it . . . . .
Is this an upgrade of the original or is it the DIY tweakers version.
In other words are you gonna end up with two versions of bufallo or one.
I wonder when each version might be released again ( if there are two ) ?
Many thanks
and sorry if this is covered already

3lviz, Sounds like you found similar improvements to what I have, when using shunts. I've tried the Salas simplistic and Paul Hynes regs, and both give that 'fuller bodied' sound you mention, over the basic LCxPS type supply. The differences came in the refinement and sound in the top end.
The B32s is a thing a distinct beauty when powered by shunt regs. I have had several emotional musical moments since using shunts with it, which are worth their weight in gold. They make the difference.
Kudos to TP for bringing shunt goodness to the masses, at a very reasonable price.
