Found the quote below in Sreeophile talking about the B&W Nautilus 801 which is not my speaker (P4) but must be a similar concept.

Descriptive words are so easy to misinterpret. Openness seems to be the opposite of directive. On the other hand I don't associate openness as having anything directly to do with directivity. So I wouldn't see this review as informative.
