Scroll down about 6 or 7 pages to: Transformer and Power Choke Connection to Board:

If you number the terminal connections on the board as shown it's hard to go wrong.

Since you are using a 1650FA the secondary wiring is easier. Just connect the feedback wiring from the speaker terminals, the ground (black on the Hammond) and the 8 ohm (yellow on the Hammond).

Helpful, Steve as always but, between WOS having complicated switching/grounding and other color wiring, not to mention upside down building against the right side up schematic for most of us, there was a lot of hilarity here. Between this thread, WOS, and most especially a friend far more knowledgeable than I, this is how the amp is about to be wired. Unless somebody stops me.

I hope you and any others will check this and approve/disapprove. My OPTs are the Hammond 1650FA. Confusion over wire color among the many OPT choices made me realise the necessity of looking at the transformer schematic which finally, I hope, cleared everything up. If this is correct, may it help others with it's terminology alongside the colors.

Trust me, there's no virtue in being old and dotty! When I read about somebody who's 97, 20 years older than me, I think, "you poor bastich".

I finally sent my correctly wired but non-working SPP to good pal Steve Brown who let me know about 5 minutes after he unpacked it that the artsy black screws I used to attach the iron and the board were anodized and consequently, DUH!, non-conductive. And I have a special drawer with nothing but various sized brass bolts for grounding. This is me kicking my own posterior.

But it arrived today and sounds wonderful. I haven't had an EL-84 amp since 25 years ago with a Music reference RM-10. That gave way to a single-minded, single-ended infatuation until about 5 years ago when I built a pair of KT-88 P-P mono blocks. The SPP has a lot of the positive attributes of that far more expensive build with a touch more sweetness. I like it.

I especially like that it sounds so good with the also recently completed matching Cherry-veneered 12" 2-ways which really show off the bass power of the design and the Hammond 1650FA OPTs.

Tubes are NOS Amperex 7062 for the 12AT7 which were one of those magical occurrences at Antique Electronic Supply when you click on NOS ____________ (whatever tube, no brand) and a package of something as good as these arrive. The EL-84s are likewise a find as they are NOS Japanese Raytheon Labeled Baldwin that I fell into on Ebay. I also dug deep in the parts drawer and used a hoarded pair of Edison Price Music Posts.
