Hey guys. I'm a little new to HT. I have been building seal boxes for over 10yrs...But never builded a ported box and never use a program to build boxes. I have been in car audio for 14yrs and only used kicker subs.....because they put out some deep bass. I builded a box which is external dimensions (H-22) (W-25) (D-17) to get internal volume of 4.3 cu ft. I made it down firing with 4" 13" long port. I need help tuning it to 18-20 Hz. It shakes the whole house damn nice. I went to fry's this weekend and pickup a Velodyne DLS-5000R. Man...I must have gotten a bad one...because my sub blows it away. And I have this amp from partsexpress 300-796
Thanks
Thanks

The edit button is at the bottom of every post you make but is active for about 1/2 hour only. After that you have to ask us. This one's fine.
Wow that was quick guys. Thanks for the quick reply richie00boy. I will give that a try as soon as i get home today. Also what you think about this amp from O Audio. http://www.oaudio.com...was thinking about picking 1 up Friday. I like that it has (Room mode control parametric equalization) and Selectable low end EQ/subsonic filter.
If you can put the port on the 25" side or 22" side, I would use this, you don't cut it, keep it full length :
http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&DID=7&Partnumber=268-352
You would get less port noise, and get 20 Hz tuning point too.
BTW, with which software do you calculate port length richie00boy ?
BTW, your link doesn't work soloxp. Oaudio seems to make good amps afaik.

Sorry about the link....here it is.
I made the port 4" 17.64 long and it did make a big diff.
Hey simon5 so should i make it 22" long instead of 17.64".
I took back the Velodyne and got a new one...but know diff.
This thing will kill the Velodyne DLS-5000R.

No no, the port I recommended using is 18" long, but flared so it's acoustically 17" long.
I just wanted to say that you couldn't install it on the side measuring 17" deep.
You will have less port noise with a flared port like that one.
BTW, I wanted to add that your box is a bit small for the C15 in a home environment. A better box would be 8 cu.ft tuned to 20 Hz. Huge, I know.

Simon I use the vent designer program I wrote, on my website www.readresearch.co.uk in the utilities section 🙂 The length formula is one I have seen used in a number of places.
Hey simon5..I was thinking about that when i was building the box....but i would got kick out the house.😀 Thats the port i have now. I cut it in 1/2. Now it's like a L shap then put the end back on.
I still need to know if this amp is a good one to get. Or is there somthing better then this around the same price.

Thanks

You said that your sub blows the driver away? Not sure what you are trying to say, but are you having problems with your driver being damaged? I noticed you have a down firing sub, and in your pictures it looks like you have very little clearance between your diver and the floor, as those feet on your box don't look very big. Perhaps your driver is hitting the floor? maybe you need longer feet on your box.
Good luck with the project,
Chris

Man! you lost me. I have no problem with my sub. I just want to know how good the O audio amp is. It look like a real nice amp. It have alots of controlls to tweak the sub for better sound. I like having controll over the sub. Don't for get...I'm in car audio to. I know car audio and HT is diff.
I for got to say that I have a Phoenix Gold bass cube hook up to the sub right now that I took out of my car system. That made a big diff....but it's going back in the car tonight. This is why i need to know if the Oaudio amp is good.
This is what the Phoenix Gold bass cube look like.
