maybe with the idea below, separating top from bass using Iso PucksHighly recommended but how to do it with aesthetism ?
You built your clone without CNC? I can’t bear the thought…Magico mini style speaker. I don't think I will ever go this route again... without cnc at least
Never used cnc for my builds, and yes, one time is enough. You built your clone without CNC? I can’t bear the thought…
Probably last plans.
The cabinet will probably be out of panzerholz 30mm. And bracing will be 20mm plywood Beech.
The speaker is a bit bigger then I thought it would be...

You could add a lateral vertical brace between the woofer and the reflex hole (going from left to right side walls).
Only problem is to fix the brace on to the back of the driverThe best way to rid of the ring is to use a brace between the cabinet and the back of the driver itself. You'd only need one and it can be acrylic as well
Thanks zman, I like the idea. I thought about it like tensioning a bow with a string. Intresting stuffThe brace can be fixed to the front baffle and to the top of the lower cabinet. The driver magnet should be touching the brace and you can use a hard foam that compresses slightly to create a tight fit between driver magnet and brace.
Why not use glass and ask a glazier to cut the various shapes? I know of at least one in Poland that offers a cnc service along with various finishing options, though I haven't used them so I don't know what it would look like in practice. But I think I'd prefer the feel of solid glass rather than acrylic.
I agree with you on higher percived quality. Why not use glass and ask a glazier to cut the various shapes? Two problems to this idea.
First is precision. I dont trust to get a perfect fit. I have a glass group that can make it but they dont work presice enough.
Second is price.
I will search in this direction though, Thanks!
forget to uploud the first sketches. Eventually an easier approach, not so sure about winning any beauty contest.
Nice thing is that it is easier seperating the mids and highs.

Those look really good!! I hope I don't keep projecting my own fetishes / fancies on you, but what about going very wide?? Keep the woofer cabinet short but wider and cut the depth. Like Troels said, wide baffle speakers bring their own room into your space.

Unfortunately the box need to look small (waf).
But actually 115LITER are not really small.
Wide and shallow will be the TL2 baby, still in the workshop
Hmmm, well, if you want to spend a lot more money you could go isobaric and cut your woofer cabinet space in half! 🙂
Isoberic Ellipticor!?!?! Jesus!Hmmm, well, if you want to spend a lot more money you could go isobaric and cut your woofer cabinet space in half!
😉 Hahaha. Actually while I like Troels' goals, he has no problem at all with super-sized designs. I would love to do an Ellipticor build but those cabinets... and this is where I find Troels can be an inspiration but also a motivation to do something different.Isoberic Ellipticor!?!?! Jesus!
@noamgeller, any progress on this project? I’m thinking about building Ellipticor 84 to replace my Faital 3WC-15.
My friend decided to postpone this project for next year. He assured me that he is still very much committed to it though. If you are going for it, feel free to post your results here, I would love to hear your thoughts about it.@noamgeller, any progress on this project?
