hello.
found some tonecontrols with transistors............many years ago they were available as a kit............
and there is always the possibility to fiddle around with the parts (bc109c = bc549c,.......)
greets

The second schematic should provide the better perfs in matter
of THD and noise as it s an active baxandall tone control.

BC109C can be replaced by BC550C or any generic low noise
NPN BC series, BC184C BC309C BC413/414 BC549C , the list is
endless...
In japanese bjts, 2SC1775 2SC1845 2SC2240 are good candidates.

Some of the circuits above that specifically state "BC109C" may be relying on the very high gain these devices have (typically around 500), so the 2N3904 with a much lower typical gain may not suffice in all cases. If you want transistor circuits to behave as designed, always use equivalent devices to those specified.

at least a tone control with jfet..........
could be simulated with nowaday's jfets.....
or redesigned with low noise bjt's like bc549c,bc550c and so on.

Thanks, MJF I feel this schematic is easy to build and hope it will give an impressive performance. Thanks again for the schematic.

What is the supply voltage for JFET and for BJT?

.......sorry i found no information what psu voltage was used with this fet tone control.but it should be around 18volts (may say: 15v min. , 24v maximal).

.......with bjt like bc550 up to 30volts (see schematics above......).
the psu should be regulated..........you can use 78xx regs (or something else).
