I’m looking for a 10mm diameter latching push button 240v 8amp switch. I have looked on RS and Mouser but cannot find what I am looking for. I want just a cylinder coming out of the face of my amp like the amps from the 70’s and 80’s. At the moment I have 2 metal toggle switches that I don’t like the look of so I want to replace them. One to a rotary selector switch and the other with the switch described above.
Any suggestions would be super helpful.
Thanks

These ratings are not common in small, low cost switches. You can use a low voltage,
low current switch of any type you like, rotary or push type, to control a relay with the
needed rating, which does the heavy work.

Would the relay use 240v to operate? I would be able to use any 240v switch with a suitable relay?
Thanks for the good advice. I still need to find a switch that I like.

Since I am on a similar path (except that I look for a huge model), I am reading this thread, contemplating wether I should go this way...
PCB: low voltage On-Off switch drives AC mains relay \ includes soft start .. H9KPXG
Here is my amp, I don’t like the silver toggle switches. I want a black push button power switch and a black selector knob (the selector will be easy). I like the zebrano wood but it is expensive and will be changed to oak when I do the switches.

You are looking for a huge switch? I hope you find it. I will have to do the relay thing as my amp draws about 8 or 9 amps.
Here are typical relays for switching your line voltage.
Watch out for the current rating per contact, some are too small for your application.
Any type of low current 230VAC switch that you like could be used to energize it.

Here's one rated 10A at 230VAC. However it appears to be momentary rather than push-on, push-off.

My Pioneer Tape deck uses one, but the amp uses a toggle switch.
What about machinery switches ? The are those 25-30mm Red and green round ones, but I've seen smaller versions. Time to visit an electrical shop.

Those are usually momentary types.
Hmm. Maybe the switch-factories aren‘t focused on „our“ on-off switches anymore.
should we instead search for a switch that ha the values we want/need (voltage/current/mechanical touch &feel) and construct the body ourselves?

Ok so I have found a switch. What type of relay would I need? I had a look and there were too many different ones for me to go through!

It's a terrible shame there are so many different relays for you to go through. Fortunately, it is often possible to avoid unpleasant tasks by finagling internet strangers to do them for you.
230VAC relay coil, 30 ampere contacts, £10.08 price in qty=1:
230VAC relay coil, 8 ampere contacts, £3.96 price in qty=1:
If you have an always-on source of DC power which is available when the front panel switch is "Off", you can select different relays having DC coils instead of 230VAC coils.
