Ultralow-noise (4 µVRMS) low-dropout linear regulators (LDO) 5/3PINs with Enable and Feedback input PINs, 15x25mm. Replacement for LM78xx TO-220 package (in 3PIN Mode)
Presenting new PCB with TPS7A4700 Ultra Low Noise Low Drop Out Voltage Regulator. The idea to build PCB adapter for TPS7A4700 QFN Package with 78xx Pin Compatible Layout is not new, but only few of them allow you to utilize all advanced features of TPS7A4700.
Features
• Input Voltage Range : +3 VDC to +25 VDC
• Output Voltage Noise : 4 μVRMS (10 Hz, 100 kHz)
• Power-Supply Ripple Rejection:
– 82 dB (100 Hz)
– ≥ 55 dB (10 Hz, 10 MHz)
• ANY-OUT™ Voltage Modes:
– User-Programmable Output via Solder pads (fig. 2a)
– Output Voltage Range: +1.4 V to +20.5 V (in 0.1V step)
• Output Current: 1 A
• Dropout Voltage: 307 mV at 1 A
• CMOS Logic Level-Compatible Enable Pin, if enable is not required, tie EN to IN. (“EN” Solder Pad, fig. 2b)
• Sense/FB Pin - This pin must be connected to OUT, can be connected to the point of load to maximize accuracy, tie FB/Sense to OUT if external connection not used by “FB” Solder Pad (fig. 2c)
• Built-In Fixed Current Limit and Thermal Shutdown
• PCB size: 25.4x15mm (approx. 1.0”x0.6”)
– Vertical or Horizontal mount, compatible with most of the TO-220 package footprints
• Operating Temperature Range:–40°C to 125°C
PCB Mounting Options
Can be mounted vertically (use angled headers) or horizontally (use straight headers), compatible with most of the TO-220 horizontal footprints due to oval shaped mounting hole.
Heatsinks
It is important to use sufficient heatsinks, the dispatched power can be calculated P=(Vin-Vout)*I. Back side of the PCB does not have any traces – only output pads and DC grounded copper pour. Heatsink can be attached directly to PCB if input/output pads not covered by it. Oval shape of the mounting hole also allows most of the standard heatsinks to be used safely without any modification.

Reversible PCB, the components can be mounted on any sides depending on your requirements, but pay special attention to the components’ polarities: diodes, electrolytic and tantalum capacitors (if installed) and LDO VR Board should be mounted according to the polarity marks.
Below are some samples for various options of LDO VR PCB Mount:
A) Vertical Mount with extruded Heatsink
Place all components on Side A, attach angled headers to the front side of LDOVR PCB, use slot B to place LDO VR Board to PSU. Ensure that square shaped pad on LDOVR (EN) corresponds to the same shaped pad on PSU Board (marked by a small dot). Max diameter for Electrolytic Capacitor is 18mm.
B) Vertical Mount with U-shaped Folded Heatsink
Place all components on Side B, attach angled headers to the front side of LDOVR PCB, use slot B to place LDO VR Board to PSU. Ensure that square shaped pad on LDOVR (EN) corresponds to the same shaped pad on PSU Board (marked by a small dot). Max diameter for Electrolytic Capacitor is 18mm.
C) Horizontal Mount with folded fins heatsink for low power dissipation operation: (Vin-Vout)*Iout<1.2W
Mount on Side A, attach straight headers to the back side of LDOVR PCB, use slot A (follow above instructions). Max diameter for Electrolytic Capacitor is 12mm.
D) Horizontal mount with Heatbridge (to use equipment case as a heatsink)
Mount all components except LDOVR PCB on Side A, attach straight headers to the front side of LDOVR PCB, use slot A on Side B for LDOVR PCB mount, place M3 x 2.5mm spacer between PSU and LDOVR Boards, then attach heatbridge. Max diameter for Electrolytic Capacitor is 18mm.

Great little module. On the "motherboard" power supply, you're not using snubber caps (e.g. 100n) around the diodes. Is that intentional?
Hi
About the module, i've tried to make it compact, universal and reliable.
About snubber caps - i never seen it on DAC's PSU, can you refer to some schematic?

NEW LT3045 Voltage Regulator (DC/DC)
Two versions can be ordered
1. Multiple Output Voltage (programmed by PINs)
Output Voltage from 1 to 15V (in 1V step) and 0.3V can be added to any "whole number" out (means 0.3V, 1.3V, 2.3V etc)
2. Single output resistor (most of standard values available)
Vout = R(in KOhms)/10

any plans for smaller footprint such as the one with TPS7A4700 with 3 pin output? I would buy 3pcs with 5V output, thanks...
now testing - 2 versions (78xx and LM317), limited q-ties will be released soon, more details on weekendany plans for smaller footprint such as the one with TPS7A4700 with 3 pin output? I would buy 3pcs with 5V output, thanks...
