I plan on powering both of my boards from one of the Aliexpress smps similar to what X had. If I get the 2000w version it should coast along and I’m hoping it therefore won’t be a problem if I disconnect the fan.

That’s what I did - disconnect the fan and it was fine. You can also connect a Noctua with PWM speed control tied to thermistor so it doesn’t kick in unless it’s hot. If you use the MicroAudio SMPS 630SO it’s ideal for this amp.
