Toroidal transformer potting can

Hi,

Does anyone know where I can find a round can for potting a toroidal transformer? I'm not planning to seal it with epoxy and leave plenty of ventilation holes on the bottom for heat generated.

I thought this is the most appropriate place to ask, because we are the ones who love to mount things on top of chassis :)

I think you are on the right track, I did some mu-metal shields and then completely encapsulated them in epoxy. It was more trouble than it was worth.

For small toroids (<100 VA) I am looking at using speaker driver shields, either bought or salvaged. I, too, would be interested in a source for covers/shields for larger toroids (300 to 400 VA).

VT4C

80mm (3.15") Diameter External, 70mm (2.76") diameter internally
50mm (1.97) Tall, 36mm (1.42") tall internally
Weight :315 (gram/Set)
Size (mm): 80 dia x 50 tall

I knew about the round can from VT4C.com but they are far too small to even fit a 20VA toroidal transformer.

You can also get it here:

They have two versions, one made from metal (http://www.askjanfirst.com/kb/TRAZ10.jpg) and one made from polyamide (http://www.askjanfirst.com/kb/TRAZ20.jpg).

Greets

I am trying to pot a 160VA or a 300VA and thought that http://www.askjanfirst.com/ as suggested by Vek, but shipping quote was unimpressive for a single plastic pot.

I used a stainless steel outdoor cup as can for a transformer...but they only come in diameters up to about 10cm.

I like that approach :) Is there any other everyday life objects that can serve as a good looking potting can?
