Here is a reprint of Faustian's picture earlier in the thread so you don't have to go looking for it. Hope this helps.

I've been thinking about that.

We originally aimed for the woofer to be around 30" or 32" off the floor. That is ear height for a seated adult.

How important that is to a speaker located in a baby's room is questionable, but still, what the heck.

But that was when we thought the end piece will be on the ground. Then it was decided, with no change in plans, to hang the speaker from a center mount. So the bottom will be off the ground.

The way the plan was drawn up, I think there were supposed to be 8" or 9" between layers.

But if the thing is a little squatter, that might not be a bad thing, since the structure will be off the ground anyway.

Not to mention that in the baby's room, 32" off the ground for the woofer is not necessarily critical anyway.

Is one speaker all together? Do you have it together with duct tape or with PVC glue?

i also think it won't be a big deal if the spiral is squatter, for the same reasons k.w. had.

still, it's puzzling that it appears to be that much compressed. i would guess it's supposed to look pretty close to the drawings. i suppose once we see some pictures we ought to be able to tell what's going on.

i will wait with patience, master po.

Setup seems well put together.

Whatever happened the clay one?

How long did it take you to knock the setup together?

Looks to me like you might have some sag in those duct-taped joints. That might account for the structure being a little squatter than planned.

Glued, they might be higher.

Think: subassembly.

Two pieces at a time. Let them cure for a day. Then proceed with the remaining pieces like that until it's done, a few days' easy work.

Now I have to figure out how to stuff the things. It's been so long since I designed it, but I think I need a half pound of stuffing per cubic foot.

How many cubic feet did we end up with, total? 3.5?

That sounds about right.

First things first, get the rest of the pieces made.

Really first, a little sleep. I've gotta make French toast tomorrow.

I do think this is one of those things that you end up doing a little bit of work on for several days.

Come to think of it, most speaker projects tend to be like that.

See ya tomorrow. You want me to call up about glue alternatives?

Since you're offering, yes. I mentioned earlier this evening that I have a tube of Plumber's Goop.

Yup. 0.611" inches on a 6 3/8" cylinder.

5/8" = 0.625.

Close enough.

Whew.

Thanks, and signing off.
