I wonder why nobody else seems interested in building, it is very good value doing it.
Afraid of 8-inch woofers in a 2-way? Nothing compared to the benefits.
A friend of mine is interested but nothing planned yet.

I have listened to maybe 10 pair of speakers lately and not been overly impressed. It is obvious to me that to beat the tired2way with commersial ones you need a big budget to get a clear step up in over all quality, not many speakers under 10000 euros impressed on me. Revel Ultima Salon (from 2005) was one pair that was excellent, also Rosso Fiorentino has nice speakers, the smaller floor stander costs almost 10000 euros and was in some ways better. Gato is another one which was nice but I was not totally convinced (about 10000 euros). So it will take some time to find something worth getting and I can be happy with what I got until then.

When thinking of such an outlay you could also pay a visit to neighbor Denmark and arrange a listen to some inspiring designs you could diy for less by Troels Gravesen etc.
I know about him and his web-site, visited it many times. Yes, if I want to go that way a listen first before build is necessary.
Apparently such a venture is about full time professional catering for the DIY market and should have demo abilities and one stop shop full BOM plus pre-cut cabinets to provide or consult. Maybe you could make the bigger three way you aspire to but on a beaten path and prefab enough to save work if something in his line of designs proves to your liking.
Yes that might help, and listening to many speakers gives you knowledge and insight of what you want to achieve.
Materially you could spend about 3K EUR for a substantial enough three way in kit form with top line drivers. That should challenge enough ~10K commercial ones.
For Salas:
Can I use Seas CA22RNX instead of the CA22RNY? For tweeter Peerless HDS tweeter I think is not available is there a substitute for this?

I haven't looked into alternatives. You got to compare still available or newer from same lines and pick closest in charts and basic parameters. It will probably take crossover values tweaks also.
Ok thanks I will try to look for closest parameters or look from other dealers maybe I could still find it.
"Alternative" for Peerless HDS 1" tweeter is Scan Speak D2608/9130. They are the same. Can't remember the whole history, were they originally manufactured by SS or something. Anyhow, it is the very same tweeter.
That is correct, same tweeter and same price, maybe eaiser to get hold of. From what I know Peerless was sold to Scan Speak and they decided to continue with the HDS tweeter but with their name.

Ok good but the CA22RNY is difficult to source. Any alternative?
Thanks.
Just one google search and I saw it on offer in several places across Europe from UK to Russia. Its smooth in the transition band and the speaker is built around it, better import it.

I'm going to check it. Thanks
I got mine from Europe-Audio, just be sure they have it in stock before you order or it can take a long time to get it if you are unlucky. Available in Sweden too but slightly more expensive.
I am very happy with the speakers. I have further improved things with the addition of a new USB cable (I know this is controversial, but..) and I got better results than before.
I got better transparency, dynamics, cleaner sound, better sound stage and so on. The difference is of course not enormous, but big enough to reach a new quality level.
I also got a shielded power cord for my dac instead of the standard one. It had a slight positive effect, too.

I've only just discovered this thread! 😱
It's just the sort of thing I like. Here's one of my efforts, but I've liked the look of the SEAS CA22RNY for a long time.
Tell me Starre, how did you arrive at the 2.3kHz crossover? I think it's the one below, isn't it?

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.
