In the end, what counts really,is what you said earlier. If you are happy with the sound that is great. No one I guess would have in his system something he doesn't like or enjoy listening to it.I once had the curiosity to listen to an AKG P8 but never had the chance. How do you like the AKG?
Given the right prerequisites - very good.
I'll say everythin giving a better ch separation of 30dB is a winner. Everything else comes with it.

well I started this thread because I was happy, not because I knew I had the sound I wanted, but because I believed what I read. Now brood 1 has grown up I can get back to the music again. if at the end of it I decide that SME345+ benz LO is the ultimate for my budget then at least I will have done it with an open mind and knowledge.
This has nothing to do with the fact that I have always wanted an SME3009...

Bill.
There are always different paths, make the best of what you have and I'm sure it will please you. Only the later stuff is made only for money - not for excellence. Sorry...
Is this the one made for oracle ?
Yup. wand of a 309, bearings of a IV and wiring of a V. I got a good deal on it 20 years ago and never wanted to change. But at 10g effective mass waaaaay to heavy for an average MM.
But my inheritance turntable will be 🙂
I wouldn't say that. With a JICO SAS MM-1 like mine, you would have a resonance frequency at around 9 hz.You can fit a JICO stylus-1 on your a&r 77 and have similar results. But at 10g effective mass waaaaay to heavy for an average MM.
