Ok, so it’s not just a American thing......still doesn’t make it any better.
Looks like mostly North America and Europe.

It just seems to mess with your inner clock
No, your inner clock stays the same.....the outer world's clock goes through a resync twice a year.....not a problem for a retired old guy who ignores it.
Then, I didn't use an alarm clock for the last 20 years or so when I was working. I just got out of bed when my body told me it was time, and wandered into work when I got there. I was almost always there before the habitual late arriver's were, so I wasn't noticed. I left work 5 minutes after the boss's Mustang cleared the parking lot.
While the time change is necessary around here for summer evening recreational activities. Many activities end at or near sundown. But March 8th is way to early in the year to do the switch.
I've always thought they have it backward. We don't need it to be light until 10 at night but we could sure use it in the winter when it's dark a little after 4pm.
Now the talk is to keep it at daylight savings year round. We had an informal referendum where 100's of 1000's of people voted to keep DST because they read the question wrong. Every person I talked with thought they were voting to keep standard time, including myself.

DST makes perfect sense for all trades that need daylight to work like farmers, construction, ...
Everyone has watches. It may have made sense when they didn;t but now I don't understand the point.
I agree that we should stay on standard time, that way it would be much easier to figure out what
time that it was when you were calling someone in another country. But another thing that annoys me are these locations that are not on the hour, but 30 or 45 minutes displaced from coordinated universal time.

Yah that’s what I meant George just worded it wrong!
I haven’t had to punch a clock for 25 yrs or so (self employed) so it doesn’t really affect me as much as other people. Just out of sync (like you say) with the time for a couple weeks.
Farmers?.....my grandparents who I/we lived with through childhood was strictly sunrise/sunset.... time change certainly didn’t affect their circadian rhythm.
And as a tradesman myself I do much better in a natural rhythm than back when I had to be there at a certain time every day.
Using "Daylight Saving" appears to me as idiotic as crushing your feet in a vice to make them fit a pair of shoes.
If anything, **change activities timetable** , only on those needed of course (many couldn´t care less) instead of messing with *everything*, including biological clock and , let´s not forget it, Astronomical clock too.
Why create such an unnatural mess when whe can (MUCH simpler) say: "in winter, we work from 10 AM to 6PM instead of 9AM to 5PM" or whatever is necessary.
Result is exact same ... for those who need it, leaves all others untouched.

I know Germany does as I have to deal with the time changes between the two countries for meetings. I believe from talking with coworkers in Graz Austria that they do as well.
Some people appear to believe that cutting 6" off one end of their blanket, and sewing it on the other end, makes the blanket longer.
Many activities end at or near sundown.
Many activities only start after sundown.
In this ******* country it has be done several years ago during several years, and the net result is identical or worse than with no change. For me it were very unfortunate those measures, and unnatural.

All of Europe does it at the same time except Iceland, Belarus and Russia while a few years ago Turkey decided to stay on DST permanently.
