The speaker was ordered by a collegue of mine, he designs lots of speakers. He had this one made as a hifi speaker (soft suspension) to suit transmissionline cabs.

Hi vbro,
Nice frame. It makes the woofer look very small.
Man, that looks like an early Philips woofer!

Edit: Okay, looking at the link. Nice looking woofers (from over here). 😀
That box looks way too small for the woofer from the picture.

My first real speakers I had as a kid had these philips woofers, with a really hard-plastic dustcap. Sound wasn't too bad as far as I can remember. I got them from a guy that put the carpet in back than (25 years ago).
He and I got into a conversation about music, I had this really sorry portable cassette-radio but with the speakers taken-out and built in boxes. He liked the way I put effort in that and wanted to give me a better opportunity (had no cash at all as a kid)...
So I got an old philips amp with it and built cabs from some old wood and had the time of my life...🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂

Hi vbro,
Those Philips speakers didn't sound too bad. I sold many, they just couldn't take any power before unravelling. It was fun instructing a person how to build their own box, recommend the components and have them drop by later to say how happy they were. The available ready made speakers in the 70's were awful. It didn't take much to beat the sound.
Your box must be deep, and the picture is very decieving.

The pic is deceiving, the speaker being in the background...
In reality most -especially female- visitors I have really are scared the....out by their appearance...😱 😱 😱 😱 😱

I'm glad my small appartment is 4.5 metres high (two stories), otherwise they would be a bit of an overkill...

I was planning to do it this weekend, but it has been raining (a lot) for the past few days (including today), and the ground is too wet to get it done.
I've eaten part of a moose. retribution? You decide. 😀My sister was once bitten by a moose.

So, let me get this straight, Anatech took a part off the moose (without killing it) and ate that part. Then, the moose, knowing that Sy and Anatech both participate in the same internet audio forum, decided to get Anatech back by biting Sy's sister?
A likely scenario, indeed.

Hi Al,

It's entirely possible that SY whipped up some chocolate mousse and it bit his sister! You should never whip a mousse, or a mouse.I've eaten chocolate mousse. Does that count?
