Hello,
I restore an old Thorens TD150 and need a new motor (16 pole, 2-phase synchronous AC motor). I think to take off the pulley on the old and put it on a new one.
I think of these motors :
Premotec http://rswww.com/cgi-bin/bv/initSes...p&logText=uk9999x&logType=902&stockNo=4410423
Linn LP12
All are 250rpm 50Hz.
Somebody know if these motors are OK for TD150 ?
Thanks
Pascal

I think you'll find it's a 24 pole motor. Any 24 pole synchronous motor will rotate at 250rpm when driven by 50Hz. 24 pole motors were very popular for turntables. If you measure the pulley diameter and the subplatter diameter, divide the one into the other, then multiply the result by 33.33r you should be able to check whether your existing motor is 24 pole (I think you'll find it is). After that, your only problem is whether the shaft diameter is correct for your pulley.
Hello EC8010,
thank you.
My pulley : 14mm (for 33tr)
My subplatter : 160mm
The shaft diameter 3mm
I think that this Airpax motor http://fr.farnell.com/jsp/endecaSearch/partDetail.jsp?SKU=147876&N=401 could be the good one for my TD150

Well, doing the sums from your measurements says that the motor rotates at 377rpm. That means that you were right and I was wrong because you do need a 16 pole motor that rotates at 375rpm, but the Airpax motor says 250rpm because it's a 24 pole motor. I assume you've tried asking Thorens about a replacement motor? The other possibility is to drive the Airpax motor from a 75Hz supply. A 75Hz oscillator and a little loudspeaker amplifier driving a step-up transformer would do the trick.
Hi,
your Thorens 150 motor only needs 90Vac to 110Vac to drive the platter.
Hopefully your replacement motor will not need any more voltage.
It would be even better if it needed less voltage, possibly no step up transformer.

Hi,
Alain, are you still keeping the 220v50Hz motor.
I would like to get it for the replacement of my 117v60Hz TD160 motor. If you can send it to me, please tell me the cost and how can I pay to you.
Regards,CHOW

audio3chung,
Yes, I still have it, little use because during about 15 years the TT has been stored
you only need to apply some oil ; and it's the original motor of my TD145 with pulley
Could you give me your postal address, please
so I can check for shipping cost
I have a paypall account. I sell it for the shipping cost...
