Thorens TD150 replacement motor

I think you'll find it's a 24 pole motor. Any 24 pole synchronous motor will rotate at 250rpm when driven by 50Hz. 24 pole motors were very popular for turntables. If you measure the pulley diameter and the subplatter diameter, divide the one into the other, then multiply the result by 33.33r you should be able to check whether your existing motor is 24 pole (I think you'll find it is). After that, your only problem is whether the shaft diameter is correct for your pulley.

Well, doing the sums from your measurements says that the motor rotates at 377rpm. That means that you were right and I was wrong because you do need a 16 pole motor that rotates at 375rpm, but the Airpax motor says 250rpm because it's a 24 pole motor. I assume you've tried asking Thorens about a replacement motor? The other possibility is to drive the Airpax motor from a 75Hz supply. A 75Hz oscillator and a little loudspeaker amplifier driving a step-up transformer would do the trick.

Pascal,

I have the original motor from my TD 145, it was setup in 220 Volts 50 Hz
but here in Canada it didn't work...
If you want it ; with the pulley.. ? give me a message!

I did replace it with a origin live DC motor 2 years ago.

Regards.

Alain
