The XSD Speaker

That’s disappointing service from PRV, but well done for trying.

On a different note, prepping myself for the future, is it possible to get most of the best from these speakers without using DSP? I don’t have a miniDSP, just the room correction on my Anthem. Apologies if I’ve missed this earlier in the thread.

If you use the XO I designed, they will work with any 4 ohm capable amplifier. I would suggest at least 50W amp, but can handle 250W for best dynamics. If you want to go active and do purely DSP, that works too. But since I didn’t design the DSP XO, you will be on your own and go by what the suggested XO points are at 470Hz and 4500Hz.

Dang! I just completed another project in a vastly different field so my fun money account is rather close to $0.....and I have a line on several things for other projects as well as outdoor working weather will be here in a couple of weeks or so, back to complete RV rebuild project.....I hope they have these for awhile.

Glad finally in stock for those waiting so long to get them!

I have no experience in, nor equipment for, active DSP. And I don't want to fumble around, trying to figure it out, if your crossover will do the job just fine. I'd rather enjoy the build.

I might struggle with the front baffle - do you have plans for it, so I could get someone to help me out, if I needed to?

So does the front baffle need to be rectangle shape, or can you shape the top of it more closer to the contour of the midrange and tweeter similar to the shape of Linkwits LX521?
Bill
You need to use a rectangular baffle per the sketch I provided if you want the crossover I designed to work well. The crossover is tied to the baffle shape and the CTC spacing of the drivers. If you change the shape, you would either need to do your own crossover or modify mine. Or use a mic and measure and do your own DSP.

If history is any lesson, they will be out any minute.

I am working on a deal either trade, part trade or cash for a much needed set of Bilsteins for our beloved v8 4runner, direly needed. I might let one of my 9mm go to make it happen so I can get more audio goodies. Sucks to get by on 15% of the income we used to have, even when had that income almost completely DIY, of course.

We think we can offer flat packs made of 3/4in birch plywood on the front and base plate, 1/2in birch plywood on the side wings, and MDF for the woofer array. They will be professionally CNC’d and so the fit should be perfect. You just need to do the gluing and screwing of fasteners yourself. Then finish them with your favorite paint/stain/varnish.

Depending on how many people sign up for this as a group buy, and I am thinking minimum 5 people at this point and price will be $750/pair and I am guessing shipping within CONUS from Texas is about $150 to $200.

Does this sound like it’s something you guys can sign up for?

Let’s make an interest list for folks to signup. CONUS (continental US) only please.

I’ll create a new thread in the GB section.
