Tomorrow will be another fine sunny day but cold and we will take a friend of mine to her headache doctor some 50 miles away. Her daughter, struggling to get her drivers licence will sit behind the wheel. (Hoping the roads are all nice and clean :xfingers:)

(Taking of water towers, I visited Växjö watertower last Autumn and visited some friends of mine next to it, that I hadn't seen for 30 years). Accidently, the underside of the tower is curved making it a great reflector for noise:

Hit -40 C Sunday for the first time and has been almost there in the last few mornings.

If you want your engine cams etc to last best to plug them in around the freezing point in my experience.

You save fuel also as a cold engine uses a lot more fuel till it warms up.

The oil stays clean longer.

The engine will get better MPG as wear reduces efficiency greatly.

It's better for the environment/your health as a like new engine burns much cleaner.

Yep, Finland is flatlands. Most water towers like Kuokkala have night time lighting, it's blue now. I can see it from my house as well as the Kuokkala bridge which is blue. On the other side of our hill one can see Laajavuori and Matti Nykänen's ski jumping hill, which has variable color lights!

My wife's sister lives in hillside of Pacifica, CA near SF and they can see sun setting down in Pacific Ocean from their windows! I have visited them only once, in 2004.

A lot of smaller towns have them in the south here because it’s flat also and good water is very deep.

But like Cal said I’ve never seen anything like those!

I did see that one had collapsed......Did someone get carried away? Our water tower is bigger than yours.....ooops! 😀

rmyauck,
You're not allowed to laugh or poke fun at me. I don't live in Thompson or Churchill, okay? 😉
Guys, it's a mere -3º but the winds are howling. Maybe not howling so much but really gusty. TBH, I had trouble staying out for more than a 30 minute dog walk. I guess I should have put on a winter coat, toque and gloves because I don't get a lot of exercise at this time of year and my circulation is not as good as it used to be. I feel like a total wussy right now. I never thought I would ever look forward to going back inside and washing dishes. 🙂

Cal

In the 80's and 90's I have seen it rain here every month of the winter with even a thunder storm. This century has been going back like the 60's and 70's, lol!

It's been warmer in Churchill and further north & north-east lately and where I am in the Flin Flon area it can get cold enough though!

I don't see anything that special about water towers.
In UK we do indeed have funnel shaped ones and I was able to get a screen grab of one pretty quickly and also a more traditional one.
They come in all shapes and sizes depending on there surroundings and when they were built.
